Cost of living in Amnat Charoen

One of the cheapest provinces we cover — and one of the thinnest for data. Rather than average eleven listings into a fake benchmark, we have named every advertised rent we could find and shown you how old each listing is.

Share

Read this first: Amnat Charoen has no BAANLYY-verified rent index and effectively no published cost-of-living dataset. The rent table below is the complete set of advertised buildings we found on the two rental portals we could reach on 19 August 2026 — eleven entries, several of them years old. They are asking prices, not transacted rents. The food and transport tables are indicative small-province Isaan benchmarks, not Amnat Charoen-specific measurements, and are labelled as such. Confirm everything directly before you commit money.

Rent — every advertised building we found

This is not a sample. It is the whole advertised market as far as we could see it. RentHub's province index counted twelve apartment entries — nine in Mueang Amnat Charoen, two in Lue Amnat and one in Pathum Ratchawongsa — while displaying ten of them on its single results page, a discrepancy we report rather than resolve. Hongpak carried four, of which three also appear on RentHub, so the two portals are not independent inventories. The floor is ฿1,700 in Lue Amnat; the ceiling is ฿4,800 in the town. See the rental market guide for lease terms and what to ask on the phone.

Supasorn Residence — near the water park, Chayangkun, Bung, Mueang฿3,500–4,000/moRentHub, updated June 2026 — one of the freshest entries in the set

PS house — Mueang Amnat Charoen฿2,500–3,800/moRentHub, last updated March 2018 — treat as historical
Jennifer Residence — Non Nam Thaeng, Mueang Amnat CharoenRentHub ฿2,500–3,500 / Hongpak ฿2,000–3,500 (+฿300–350/day)On BOTH portals, and they disagree about the bottom of the range — a useful reminder that a portal price is an advertisement, not a fact
Phop Ruk Residence — Na Wa, Pathum Ratchawongsa฿2,800–3,500/mo (+฿500–800/day)RentHub, Dec 2025 — the ONLY advertised building anywhere in the northern districts
Kittiyapron Mansion — Bung, Mueang Amnat Charoen฿2,700–3,000/moOn BOTH portals; carries RentHub's "verified listing" flag, but that entry dates from July 2022
House for rent on the bypass road, near Big C — Bung, Mueang฿2,000–2,500/moRentHub, June 2026 — a house rather than an apartment room
Dormitory near Big C — Bung, Mueang Amnat Charoen฿1,800/moRentHub, June 2026 — the cheapest advertised room in the capital
Moonsin — Amnart, Lue Amnat฿1,700–2,000/moRentHub, March 2024 — the cheapest advertised rent anywhere in the province

Utilities are almost always charged separately in this kind of building — electricity at a per-unit rate set by the landlord, water at a flat monthly rate — and at least one building here also advertises a separate common-area fee. Budget roughly ฿800–2,500/month on top depending on air-conditioning use; that is an indicative regional figure, not an Amnat Charoen measurement.

Food & dining (indicative regional benchmarks)

Café coffee฿40–60A small café scene exists along Chayangkun Road; not a nomad-café market
Local beer (small, at a shop)฿45–70Shop prices; bar mark-ups are modest in a town this size
03

Transport, connectivity & everyday (indicative)

ItemIndicative priceNote
Petrol (1 litre)฿35–45National pump range — a vehicle is unavoidable outside the town municipality
Mobile plan (calls + data)฿300–500/moAIS, TrueMove H and dtac all have provincial coverage
Home broadband (fibre)฿450–800/moFibre is available in the town; confirm coverage for a specific address
Motorcycle-taxi trip in town฿20–50The main hired transport inside the Bung municipality
One-way bus to Ubon RatchathaniFrom about ฿50Roughly 106km south on Highway 212, generally quoted at two to two and a half hours

Amnat Charoen has no railway station, no airport and no mass transit — a motorbike or car is the practical default for anyone outside the Bung town municipality, consistent with the getting-around guide.

Why we list the raw data instead of an average

With eleven advertised buildings province-wide, an average would be a worse answer than the list. One stale 2018 listing, or the single lift-served block at the top of the range, would move a headline number by hundreds of baht and you would have no way to see it. So the table above names each building, its asking price and how old the listing is, and leaves the judgement to you. It also shows you something an average would hide: Jennifer Residence is advertised at two different starting prices on two different portals. As BAANLYY verifies Amnat Charoen buildings and rents directly, this page will cite those instead — and will say clearly which figures are verified and which are still advertised asking prices.

Frequently asked

Is there reliable cost-of-living data for Amnat Charoen? For rent, partly — and we have published all of it above rather than averaging it into a single number. Every advertised building we could find on the two rental portals we reached in August 2026 is named in the table, with its asking price and how recently the listing was touched, because several had not been updated since 2024 and one dates from 2018. For food, transport and utilities there is effectively no Amnat Charoen-specific published data at all, so those tables are honest indicative small-province Isaan benchmarks, clearly labelled as such. We would rather show you the raw thinness than manufacture precision.
How much does it cost to live in Amnat Charoen per month? For a single long-stayer renting one of the advertised rooms, a realistic all-in budget is broadly ฿15,000–25,000 a month — rent at ฿1,700–4,800, food eaten locally, and a motorbike. That is a directional estimate built up from the advertised rents plus regional benchmarks, not a surveyed figure. The number moves most on whether you run a car, how often you drive the 106km to Ubon Ratchathani, and how you handle healthcare given that we did not identify a private general hospital in the province.
Why is Amnat Charoen so cheap?Because there is almost no demand pressure. Amnat Charoen has no airport, no railway, no mall and no tourist or expat premium, and it only became a province in 1993. Rents are set by local salaries at the provincial hospital, the government offices, the schools and Mahidol's campus, not by outside money. The campus is the one source of genuine rental demand, and it is small.
What's the biggest cost driver in Amnat Charoen?Transport and healthcare, not rent. Rent here is genuinely low and does not vary much across the province. What varies is whether you need a vehicle (you almost certainly do outside the town municipality, since there is no mass transit of any kind) and how often you make the trip south to Ubon Ratchathani for the airport, a mall, private healthcare or anything the provincial hospital refers on.
How does Amnat Charoen compare to Ubon Ratchathani for cost of living?Directionally cheaper across housing and everyday costs, because Ubon is a real regional city with a large university, an airport and a rental market to match. But the comparison cuts both ways: plenty of what Ubon residents pay for locally, Amnat Charoen residents pay for in fuel and driving time. We present this as directional — we have no verified side-by-side dataset for the two provinces.
