Public university · founded 1961 · Chatuchak
The Civil Aviation Training Center was set up on 4 June 1961 as a joint project between the United Nations Special Fund, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Thai government, to train aviation staff for Thailand and its neighbours to ICAO standards. The Thai government took sole charge in 1966, and a 1992 Royal Decree made CATC a state enterprise under the Ministry of Transport.
It is Thailand's specialist aviation institute rather than a general university. Classroom and ground-based programmes run from the Bangkok campus at 1032/355 Phahonyothin Road, Chom Phon, Chatuchak; flight training is based at Hua Hin Airport in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
