Public university · founded 1969 · Nakhon Pathom (Salaya) / Bangkok Noi, Bangkok (Siriraj)
Mahidol University traces its roots to Siriraj Hospital's medical school in Bangkok Noi and was formally reorganised and renamed Mahidol University in 1969, honouring Prince Mahidol Adulyadej, widely regarded as the father of modern medicine and public health in Thailand. It is consistently regarded as Thailand's leading university for medicine, nursing, public health and the life sciences.
The university's main campus is at Salaya in Nakhon Pathom province, just west of Bangkok, while its historic medical faculty remains based at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok Noi. Mahidol University International College (MUIC), based at Salaya, offers English-medium undergraduate programs across business, science, social science and the arts.
