Royal Thai Police — Immigration Bureau, Trat Immigration Office, Koh Chang sub-office
Unlike several of Thailand's smaller resort islands, Koh Chang has its own full-time immigration sub-office, on the main road at Klong Prao beach opposite the Flora I-talay Resort. It operates as a sub-office of the Trat Immigration Office, and since 1 August 2024 has also processed extensions of stay (retirement, marriage, work and family) on-island, so most long-stay residents no longer need a mainland trip for these -- a genuine practical advantage over islands such as Koh Lanta or Koh Phangan.
For services the Klong Prao office does not handle -- re-entry permits and more complex cases in particular -- residents fall back on the main Trat Immigration Office on the mainland, or Laem Ngop Immigration office near the ferry pier in Laem Ngop village, about 100 metres from the pier. See the full BAANLYY Koh Chang immigration office guide for the complete breakdown of what's handled where.
