Thailand National Sports University, Krabi Campus is the province's one full university campus, on roughly 105 rai at 111 Si Trang Road in Krabi Yai Subdistrict, a short drive from the centre of Krabi Town. Its own history page dates the institution to 20 February 1978, when it opened as Krabi College of Physical Education with backing from the province's officials, merchants and residents, and describes it as the first higher-education institution in Krabi able to take students all the way to a bachelor's degree.

For a relocating family the practical read is narrow but real: this is a specialist sports, physical-education and tourism-and-recreation campus, taught in Thai, not a broad multi-faculty university. If you need general bachelor's-degree options in engineering, business, medicine or the sciences, you are still looking at Phuket, Hat Yai or Nakhon Si Thammarat -- although, as of this page's September 2026 review, Krabi Technical College does teach three applied bachelor's degrees in town. The TNSU campus itself is a genuine anchor in Mueang Krabi: a 105-rai site with gymnasium and competition facilities, 94 staff and a steady student population that shapes rental demand on the Krabi Town side of the province.
