Bangkok · International school profile

NIST International School.

IB (PYP / MYP / DP) · Sukhumvit (Soi 15)

A central, not-for-profit school founded in 1992 with the support of the Bangkok-based United Nations community, and Thailand's first school authorised to offer the full International Baccalaureate continuum — the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Its Sukhumvit Soi 15 location makes it the default choice for families who want to stay in the condo belt.

Campus

The campus, and how you actually get there

Address: 36 Sukhumvit Soi 15, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok

A compact, vertical urban campus — dense rather than sprawling, which is the trade-off for the central location.

Getting there: The best-connected major international school in the city: BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit are roughly a ten-minute walk, or a few minutes by taxi. A genuine no-car school run.

Bangkok school runs are decided by traffic, not distance. Cross-check with the Bangkok getting-around guide and the BTS and MRT network before you commit to a neighbourhood.

Academics

The curriculum pathway

How a child progresses through the school, stage by stage:

Standing

Accreditation & memberships

Accreditation is the closest thing to an objective quality signal in international schooling — it means an outside body has inspected governance, teaching and safeguarding. BAANLYY does not rank schools, so this is what NIST International School and its accrediting bodies publish, not our verdict:

Community

Boarding and the size of the school

Boarding: Day school — no boarding.

Scale: Around 1,800 students drawn from a reported 70-plus nationalities — one of the most nationally mixed rolls in Bangkok, a legacy of its UN origins. Roll and nationality figures move every year and schools report them differently — treat these as indicative and ask the admissions office for the current numbers.

Fit

Who this school tends to suit

Condo-belt families and relocating professionals who want a full-IB education without a suburban move, and anyone who values a genuinely walkable school run over campus acreage.

This is our editorial read for relocation planning, not a ranking or a recommendation — and no school pays to appear on BAANLYY. Visit shortlisted campuses before you decide.

Where to live

Living near NIST International School

NIST is the one major campus you can realistically walk to. Central Sukhumvit between Nana and Phrom Phong is the natural catchment.

AsokePhrom PhongNana

Check the school's bus catchment before you sign — a home that looks close on a map can sit outside the route, and a home on the route can be twenty minutes further away and still be the easier morning.

Due diligence

What to confirm directly with the school

BAANLYY deliberately does not publish per-school tuition figures: they change annually, schools publish their own current schedules, and a stale number is worse than none. Take this list to the admissions office:

BAANLYY does not rank, endorse or accept payment from schools. Facts on this page are compiled from NIST International School's own official website and its accrediting bodies, and are provided for relocation planning — not as admissions or financial advice. Curricula, campuses, fees and admissions rules change; always confirm current details with the school.
