College of the Faculty of Nursing, Praboromarajchanok Institute -- the Ministry of Public Health's own higher-education institution, constituted as such by the Praboromarajchanok Institute Act B.E. 2562, published in the Royal Gazette on 5 April 2019
Chonburi city trains its own nurses, and has done since 1971 -- but the college that does it sits outside the higher-education ministry, which is why a search for universities in Chonburi does not return it. Its own history page records the origin plainly: the Ministry of Public Health judged that Thailand was badly short of nursing staff, and in 1971 Dr Udom Jindawanik, then director of Chonburi Hospital, took up the policy and founded the Chonburi Practical Nurse and Midwifery School. The first course ran one year and six months -- a year of nursing followed by six months of midwifery -- and produced seven cohorts. Under the Fourth National Economic and Social Development Plan the assistant-nurse intake was suspended and the college opened a four-year programme instead, treated from the outset as equivalent to a bachelor's degree; its first term began on 5 June 1978.
Two dates explain the name and the paperwork. On 26 February 1993 a Ministry of Public Health reorganisation, gazetted in Royal Gazette volume 110 part 22, merged the ministry's nursing, nursing-and-midwifery and public-health colleges into one new agency, which was later granted the royal name Praboromarajchanok Institute. Then on 26 August 1994 the ministry's nursing colleges received the royally bestowed name 'Boromarajonani' in honour of HRH the Princess Mother, and Chonburi Nursing College became Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chonburi. From 1997 the college was an affiliated institute of Burapha University a few kilometres away, so its graduates took the Bachelor of Nursing Science from Burapha and received it at Burapha's ceremony; from 2011 the ceremony moved to Suan Amphorn alongside the other colleges of the institute. Between 1971 and 2018 the college recorded 7,631 graduates across all of its programmes.
One honest caveat, because it matters to anyone planning around this. The college's own history page is a static archive whose last dated entry is that 2018 graduate count, so it predates the 2019 Act that made Praboromarajchanok Institute a degree-awarding higher-education institution in its own right. The institute's Faculty of Nursing lists Chonburi among its colleges today. If the awarding arrangement on your certificate matters to you -- and for nursing registration it usually does -- confirm the current position with the college directly rather than with any directory, this one included.
