Ask “which universities are in Chonburi” and you get the wrong answer, because two of the province's busiest degree routes are not universities and do not sit under the higher-education ministry at all. This page asks a different question — what awards a qualification here — and answers it with a university campus in Sriracha, a university seated at Bang Phra, a private campus in Chonburi City, and the two Ministry of Public Health colleges in Ban Suan that a province-name search never returns.
An entry appears below if it teaches in Chonburi province, awards a qualification in its own right or as a named part of a body that does, and we could read its address, its awarding authority and what it awards off its own pages. That is a stated test, not a claim to have counted every institution in the province — if we have missed one, tell us and we will read it and add it.
Chonburi province contains Pattaya, and BAANLYY splits the province between two hubs for that reason — the industrial corridor here, the Bang Lamung side there. That is a filing decision, not a statement about geography, so here is what sits on the other page rather than a silence you would have to interpret:
Yes, there is a medical school, and it was the first in Eastern Thailand. Burapha University's Faculty of Medicine was established on 2 September 2002, its Doctor of Medicine degree was approved on 10 February 2003, and the first cohort of 32 students was admitted for the 2007 academic year. Its teaching hospital, Burapha University Hospital, is on Long-Had Bangsaen Road in Bang Saen — which is one reason Chonburi city trains so much of its own health workforce: a medical faculty, a nursing college and a public-health college, all inside Mueang Chonburi District.
English-medium study is narrow, and it narrowed. Burapha runs an International College teaching in English, and individual international programmes exist elsewhere — but the default language of instruction across every institution on this page is Thai, including both Ministry of Public Health colleges. Asian University in Bang Lamung, which taught in English, closed in August 2017 and has not been replaced. Confirm the language of a specific programme with the institution for the year you intend to enrol; do not assume it from the university's name.
There is no campus rail. No BTS, no MRT, no commuter metro serves any of these campuses. The State Railway's Eastern Line does run the length of the province and stops at Chon Buri, Si Racha Junction and Bang Phra among others, but at roughly one ordinary train each way per day it is intercity transport, not a commute. Our Chonburi transport guide sets out exactly what runs and what does not.
Primary and official sources are cited above. Government rules, fees and procedures in Thailand change over time and vary by office; always confirm current requirements with the relevant authority before relying on them. BAANLYY never takes paid placement in editorial content.
Tell us your campus or plant, budget and move-in date — we'll point you to condos and shared housing nearby.
