Ask “what universities are here?” and you get two answers. Ask “what awards a bachelor's degree here?” and you get five bodies — a flagship public university at Bangsaen, Thammasat's campus inside Bang Lamung, a private hospitality college on Sukhumvit, a vocational-education institute whose colleges are in Chonburi but whose office is in Rayong, and a Buddhist-university unit in a Chonburi temple. Each entry below was read off that institution's own pages.
This page used to say it profiled every Pattaya and Chonburi university, over two entries. That was a claim we had not earned, so it is gone. What the list now promises is narrower and testable: every body we could evidence, from its own pages, as awarding degrees within commuting reach of Pattaya. Here is what sits outside that line.
Three more Chonburi universities are on this site, one click away. Kasetsart University's Sriracha campus, Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok at Bang Phra and Sripatum University's Chonburi campus are profiled on our Chonburi universities page. They are all in the province and all within an hour of Pattaya; they are not duplicated here.
No Ramkhamhaeng presence in Chonburi. Ramkhamhaeng's own central register lists all 23 regional campuses and all 41 domestic examination centres by province in one page. Chonburi is in neither list. For the working adult who wants a part-time open-admission Thai degree, the nearest RU points in the east are Prachin Buri (campus and exam centre), Chanthaburi and Sa Kaeo (exam centres). That is an absence read off the university's own register, not off a search that found nothing.
Two candidates checked and excluded. “Eastern Asia University” is real but sits in Pathum Thani, near Bangkok. “Asian University” did operate in Bang Lamung — its council applied to cease operating for financial reasons and it closed in August 2017. Both exclusions were re-checked when this page was rewritten and both stand.
What we could not settle. We found no first-party page confirming whether MCU's Chonburi unit has completed its upgrade from academic service unit to full วิทยาลัยสงฆ์; its own site's newest posts are from 2020. And we did not attempt a census of private colleges in Bang Lamung beyond the one named above. Both are our gaps, not proven absences.
