RMUTR's central area and administration are in this province, at Salaya -- not in Bangkok, despite the Rattanakosin name. It is one of the nine Rajamangala universities of technology created in 2005 from the old Rajamangala Institute of Technology, and it teaches the applied, industry-facing end of Thai higher education: engineering, architecture, industrial education and fine arts.
RMUTR describes itself as four areas rather than four campuses, and BAANLYY's Prachuap Khiri Khan guide records the same distinction from the university's own profile: the Salaya central area, the Bophit Phimuk Chakkrawat area and Poh-Chang Academy of Arts in Bangkok, and Wang Klai Kangwon at Hua Hin, which is RMUTR's only designated campus. For Nakhon Pathom the consequence is simple -- Salaya carries a second large student population on top of Mahidol's, in the same few square kilometres, which is most of why rents there behave differently from the rest of the province.
