The province's main hospital, at 43 Atthakawee Road in Pak Nam Pho, and — this is the part that matters — classified by the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital, the top tier in the provincial system, rather than the ordinary general-hospital tier most provinces have. It is the lead facility for MOPH Health Region 3. Two practical points this page previously missed. First, it is not one address: the hospital also runs a Khao Khiao site at 999 Moo 7 in Tambon Nakhon Sawan Ok, on the eastern side of the city, which is where its medical education centre sits — so ask which site an appointment is at before you plan the journey. Second, its teaching partner has changed. This page used to describe it as a Siriraj-affiliated teaching hospital training doctors under a MOPH–Mahidol programme; by the medical education centre's own published history it worked with Thammasat University from 1995, with Mahidol University from the 1999 academic year until 2022, and has admitted its medical students with the Faculty of Medicine of the Praboromarajchanok Institute since the 2023 academic year. The Boromarajonani College of Nursing next door at number 45 belongs to the same institute. It began in 1931 as a small sukhaphiban health station, reached 150 beds when the Ministry of Public Health took it over in 1950, was rebuilt to 400 beds by 1969, and was given its present name by King Bhumibol Adulyadej when he opened the rebuilt hospital in 1970. Today it runs several hundred beds and a very high occupancy rate — expect a busy public hospital, but one with real specialist depth.

The city's best-known private hospital and the usual first stop for foreigners wanting shorter waits, private rooms and easier English for outpatient and routine care. It runs a second branch in Bangkok (Ratchaphruek), which is a useful signal of scale for a provincial operator. Confirm which insurers it bills directly before you need it.

A second private general hospital, on Suanwitthi Road in Pak Nam Pho, with 24-hour ambulance transfer. Useful as an alternative for routine and urgent private care, and worth knowing simply because having two private options in a provincial city is not a given.

There is no dedicated international hospital here in the Bumrungrad or Samitivej sense, and no branch of Paolo, Bangkok Hospital or BDMS in the city — an earlier version of this page named a Paolo branch in Nakhon Sawan and we could not verify one exists, so we have removed it. English is available but not guaranteed at every counter; bring a Thai-speaking friend or a translation app for anything complex. For the most specialised procedures, Bangkok's flagship hospitals remain about 3–4 hours south.
