Praboromarajchanok Institute.

Praboromarajchanok Institute at a glance

Thailand's health workforce is largely trained outside the higher-education ministry, and the institution that does it is headquartered in Nonthaburi. Praboromarajchanok Institute is a specialised higher-education institution inside the Ministry of Public Health, given its own legal personality by the Praboromarajchanok Institute Act B.E. 2562 (2019), and its head office sits in the Ministry of Public Health compound on Tiwanon Road in Talat Khwan, a short walk from the MRT Purple Line's Ministry of Public Health station.

The institute teaches through faculties and a national network of constituent colleges rather than a single campus, and its own sites list nine regional campuses nationwide. Its faculties include Nursing, Public Health and Allied Health Sciences, Medicine and Pharmacy; the Faculty of Public Health and Allied Health Sciences dates itself to 1951 and publishes nine bachelor's programmes across its colleges, from community public health and dental public health to medical records, radiologic technology, Thai traditional medicine, occupational health and safety, and emergency medicine.

Notable facts

• A degree-awarding higher-education institution that reports to the Ministry of Public Health, not to the higher-education ministry -- so it does not appear in ordinary lists of Thai universities.
• Head office in the Ministry of Public Health compound on Tiwanon Road, Mueang Nonthaburi, beside the MRT Purple Line.
• Teaches through constituent colleges nationwide; two of them are in Nonthaburi -- Boromarajonani College of Nursing Nonthaburi and the Kanchanabhishek Institute of Medical and Public Health Technology in Sai Noi.
• The Faculty of Public Health and Allied Health Sciences gives its own contact address as the Bamrasnaradura campus in Mueang Nonthaburi, so the faculty itself is seated in the province.
