Read this first: Suphan Buri is a Thai domestic province with almost no foreign resident population, so community-contributed price data for it is very thin. Rather than publish false-precision figures, the tables below give indicative ranges typical of an inexpensive Central-region agricultural province, clearly labelled as guide estimates. Confirm current asking prices — especially rent — directly for the specific area you choose.
| Item | Indicative price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Meal, inexpensive local restaurant / market stall | ฿40–65 | An agricultural province with no tourism premium — food is genuinely cheap |
| Meal for two, mid-range restaurant | ฿350–650 | Mall and riverside restaurants sit at the top of this range |
| Cappuccino / café coffee | ฿45–70 | Café culture is growing around the mall and the market towns |
| Local draft beer (small) | ฿55–90 | Cheaper at local spots than at the mall |
Housing is the biggest swing in any Suphan Buri budget, and the market is informal — most homes are let directly by owners rather than through agencies. The town centre is cheapest for a room or apartment; the Highway 340 corridor costs most for a new-build house; rural districts are cheap but usually need a car and some Thai to find. See the rental market guide for lease terms.
| Item | Indicative range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Room or studio in a town-centre apartment block | ฿2,500–5,000/mo | The cheapest formal housing in the province |
| 1-bed apartment or small condo, Mueang district | ฿3,500–10,000/mo | Mostly the Highway 340 corridor and the town centre |
| 2–3 bed house, town or the 340 corridor | ฿5,000–15,000/mo | New-build estates near the mall sit at the top of the range |
| Rural house, U Thong or the northern districts | ฿3,000–8,000/mo | Let directly by owners; usually found by asking locally |
| Basic utilities (electricity, water, common areas) | ฿1,000–2,800/mo | Electricity dominates; the plains get very hot March–May |
| Item | Indicative price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol (1 litre) | ฿35–45 | A vehicle is a fixed cost here, not a convenience |
| Mobile plan (calls + data) | ฿300–500/mo | AIS, TrueMove H and dtac all cover the province |
| Home broadband (fibre, unlimited) | ฿450–800/mo | Good coverage in Mueang district; check availability in rural tambons |
| Bus or minivan to Bangkok (one way) | ฿90–160 | Frequent services on Highway 340; roughly 1.5–2 hours |
Suphan Buri has no mass transit and no commercial airport — a motorbike or car is the practical default for anyone outside the walkable town centre, consistent with the getting-around guide.
Suphan Buri draws domestic weekend visitors rather than the foreign resident and nomad populations that fund granular cost-of-living coverage in Chiang Mai or Phuket, so public datasets for it are sparse. Rather than inventing a precise number to complete the picture, this guide uses honest indicative ranges and flags them clearly. As verified, Suphan Buri-specific data becomes available, these tables will be updated to cite it directly.
Cheap is a claim about prices, and it is easy to slide from there into assuming labour is cheap too. Graded against the primary text — the Ministry of Labour's own English publication of the Wage Committee's Notification (No. 14), resolved 17 June 2025, in force 1 July 2025, Royal Gazette vol. 142 special issue 236D, the notification that repeals No. 13 — Suphan Buri's minimum wage is ฿355 a day, band 8 of 17. That is above the midpoint, not near the bottom: it shares the band with Nakhon Nayok and Nong Khai, sits ฿3 above Kanchanaburi and Chiang Rai, ฿8 above Ratchaburi and Udon Thani, and ฿18 above the national floor of ฿337.
Two qualifications matter more here than the band. The ฿400 rate is nationwide for two business categories, not just for the rich provinces: licensed hotels of categories 2, 3 and 4 and service establishments pay ฿400 a day wherever they are, so a guesthouse or a bar in Suphan Buri is on the same floor as one in Bangkok. And the minimum wage does not reach seasonal agricultural work at all. The Wage Committee's own explanatory note places plantation and crop work, livestock, forestry, salt pans and inland fishery outside the notification, along with domestic work and work on water-going vessels. In a province this guide describes as an agricultural economy, ฿355 is not the floor for a large part of the actual workforce. A day, for these purposes, means the employee's normal hours — eight, or seven for work classed as hazardous.
