01What this is & why you'd need it
Furniture-rental companies supply beds, sofas, dining sets, appliances and decor on a monthly contract, usually with delivery, installation and end-of-term collection. Foreigners on 1–2 year stays use them to furnish an unfurnished or semi-furnished condo without the cost of shipping or buying — and without being stuck with furniture when they leave.
02What to look for
- Package tiers that match your unit size (studio vs. 2-bed) and budget
- Whether delivery, assembly, maintenance and collection are included
- Quality and condition of the actual items (ask for current photos, not catalogue shots)
- Minimum contract length and what happens if your lease ends early
03Questions to ask before you commit
Q. Is delivery, installation and end-of-term removal included in the monthly price?
Q. What's the minimum term and the early-termination cost?
Q. Who repairs or replaces an item that breaks, and how fast?
Q. Is there a deposit, and what are the conditions for getting it back?
04Red flags
Walk away if you see…
- Quality far below the marketing photos on delivery
- Hidden delivery, assembly or collection charges added later
- Punitive 'damage' deductions with no condition report at handover
- No written inventory of what was delivered
05What it typically costs
Billed monthly by package size and quality tier; many providers want a deposit and a minimum term. Compare the total over your expected stay against buying basic furniture, which you'd then have to resell or dispose of when you leave.
06Frequently asked
Rent or buy furniture? For stays under ~2 years, renting often wins once you count resale hassle and disposal. For longer stays, buying mid-range furniture can be cheaper overall. Run both totals over your real timeline.
Aren't many condos already furnished? Many BAANLYY-listed condos are fully or partly furnished — check each listing. Furniture rental is mainly for unfurnished units or to upgrade a sparse one.
Do they do appliances too? Most packages include or offer fridges, washing machines, microwaves and TVs. Confirm exactly which appliances are in your tier before signing.
