Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. sits under the Tourism Authority of Thailand and was set up by a Cabinet resolution of 29 July 2003. It sells memberships; the membership gets you a Privilege Entry (PE) visa. That visa is multiple-entry, valid for five years, and lets you stay up to one year per entry. On Platinum, Diamond and Reserve the five-year visa is renewed for the rest of your term.
On top of the visa you get services: fast-track at the airport, an Elite Personal Assistant, help with government paperwork such as 90-day reports, bank accounts and driving licences, and a member call centre. Gold and above add yearly privilege points you spend on stays, travel, leisure and health.

Bringing your family
Only Platinum, Diamond and Reserve take family members. Gold and Bronze do not, so a couple on Gold needs two cards. “Family” in the terms means a parent or step-parent, a married spouse, a certified civil-union partner, or a child or legally adopted child.

If the core member dies, a surviving family member becomes the core member; after a divorce, that person’s privileges go back to the core member. Upgrades have to be done by the whole family together.
Who can apply, and who gets turned down
Any foreign passport holder of any age can apply; under-20s sign through a guardian. The terms rule out anyone who:
- has been sentenced to prison in any country, except for negligence;
- has been adjudicated bankrupt, or declared of unsound mind or legally incompetent;
- is not allowed to stay in Thailand under immigration law.
The application also has you declare no deportation history, no arrest warrant or watch-list entry, no link to money laundering or financial crime, and no more than one overstay in Thailand in the past three years. Your passport needs more than a year of validity and three blank pages. Dual nationals must declare every passport; an undeclared one can sink the application.
Since September 2024 the background check runs through four agencies: the Immigration Bureau, the Department of Consular Affairs, the Royal Thai Police Foreign Affairs Division and the Central Investigation Bureau. You pay only after all four approve. The usual four to six weeks has been running longer for some applicants since January 2026.
How to apply, step by step
- Pick a tier and apply online at thailandprivilege.co.th or through one of its authorised sales agents, in Thailand or abroad.
- Send the documents: a colour passport copy, a passport photo on a white or blue background, the application and consent forms, your current Thai visa or entry stamp if you are in Thailand, and proof of relationship for family members.
- Pay the ฿50,000 application fee (VAT included). It is counted toward the membership fee, not added on top. Thailand Privilege has waived it for set periods before (1 September to 31 December 2024), so ask whether a waiver is running.
- Wait for the background check. Thailand Privilege aims to approve within two months.
- Pay the membership fee by bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Alipay, UnionPay or Thai QR. Membership is active within a week.
- Get the visa affixed, in person: on arrival at Suvarnabhumi, Phuket or Chiang Mai airport on a direct international flight, at Chaeng Wattana immigration in Bangkok, or at a Thai embassy or consulate. The Thai e-Visa route is open only while you are outside Thailand.
Read the refund terms before you pay the application fee. They differ by tier, and Reserve’s says the fee is not refunded if you are rejected.
Living in Thailand on the Privilege visa
1 year per entry
Each arrival on the PE visa gives up to a year. Leave and come back, and the clock restarts.
Extensions
Staying past a year? Extend in person at your local immigration office: ฿1,900, up to 30 days before your permission ends, one year each time.
90-day reports
Still required. Thailand Privilege runs a passport drop-off service in Bangkok, Chonburi, Chiang Mai and Phuket; newer cards pay for it in points. Late reporting is fined ฿2,000.
365 days
After a year of continuous stay you must present yourself to immigration.
TM30
The residence notification is your landlord's job, not Thailand Privilege's. Make sure it is done.

What it will not do
- It is not a work visa. Thailand Privilege classes the PE visa as a long-term tourist visa that cannot carry a work permit. Working needs a Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit. See work permits in Thailand.
- It cannot be sold or handed on. Bronze, Gold, Platinum and Diamond are non-transferable. Reserve can be transferred once, to immediate family.
- It can be taken away. False information, a lapsed qualification, illegal acts or misuse end the membership, and the fee is forfeited.

You can move up a tier if you apply at least six months before your term ends. Prices include VAT.

Holding an old Elite card bought before October 2023? Those packages are discontinued for new buyers, but existing members keep their benefits and can upgrade with more than three months left.

Thailand Privilege’s 2025 annual report names China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Russia, Germany and France as its main member nationalities. Membership grew from 20,108 in 2022 to 39,538 by September 2025.

How much does the Thailand Privilege Card cost in 2026?Five tiers, fees including VAT: Bronze ฿650,000 for 5 years, Gold ฿900,000 for 5 years, Platinum ฿1,500,000 for 10 years, Diamond ฿2,500,000 for 15 years and Reserve ฿5,000,000 for 20 years (by invitation only). Can I work in Thailand on a Thailand Privilege visa?No. Thailand Privilege's own FAQ says the Privilege Entry visa is classed as a long-term tourist visa and does not allow a work permit. To work you need a separate Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit.
How long can I stay per entry?Up to one year per entry on the Privilege Entry (PE) visa, which is multiple-entry and valid for five years. If you stay past a year you extend at your local immigration office, in person, for a ฿1,900 fee, applying up to 30 days before your current permission ends.

Who is refused?The terms exclude anyone with a prison sentence in any country (except for negligence), anyone adjudicated bankrupt or declared legally incompetent, and anyone not allowed to stay in Thailand under immigration law. The application also asks you to declare no deportation history and no more than one overstay in the past three years. Four agencies run the background check, and you are only asked to pay once all four approve.
How long does approval take?Thailand Privilege says approval comes within two months, membership is active within a week of payment, and the visa is then issued. It warned in January 2026 that some background checks were taking longer than the usual four to six weeks because of delays at the Royal Thai Police Foreign Affairs Division.
Is Thailand Privilege worth it compared with other long-stay visas?It depends on what you can qualify for. Privilege has no income, age or asset test: you pay instead. The LTR, retirement and DTV routes cost far less in fees but qualify you on income, assets, age or purpose.
