Private University · founded 1988 · Mueang Lampang
Nation University is a private university whose main campus is in Lampang -- the province's only fully private degree-granting university, and the institution most often missed when Lampang is described as having 'two universities'. It opened in 1988 as Yonok College, run by the Yonok Foundation under a Ministry of University Affairs licence, was upgraded from college to university status as Yonok University on 23 August 2006 by the Office of the Higher Education Commission, and was acquired by the Nation Group media company in 2011, taking its present name.
The university teaches across health sciences, science and technology, and humanities and social sciences, with bachelor's programmes including nursing, business administration, computer science and communication arts, plus graduate programmes in business administration and education. By its own count it had produced more than 8,400 graduates in its first 32 years. The campus is at 444 Moo 2, Vajiravudh Damnoen Road, Phra Bat Subdistrict, Mueang Lampang -- inside the city, unlike the two campuses out at Hang Chat and Ko Kha.
