Where you can study for a degree in Lampang
A Rajabhat university with roots in teacher training; an RMUTL technology campus; a private university in the city; a Thammasat regional campus out at Hang Chat; a Ministry of Public Health nursing college; an MCU Buddhist college at Ko Kha; and a vocational college whose accounting degree is awarded by an Institute of Vocational Education. Where an institution's degrees are conferred by a body other than itself, we name that body rather than leaving you to guess.
Honest gaps
There is no institution called "Lampang University" -- if you have seen the name, it is almost certainly Lampang Rajabhat University or Nation University (which taught as Yonok University until 2011). Lampang has no medical school of its own: Thammasat's Lampang campus teaches Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, not the M.D. programme, which is taught at Rangsit. Nor does the province have an international university or a foreign branch campus; the nearest concentration of English-medium and international programmes is in Chiang Mai, about 100 km north-west.
Where each campus puts you
Four of the seven sit in Mueang Lampang, the city district: Lampang Rajabhat University out at Chomphu, where the student-oriented apartments and boarding houses along the Rajabhat corridor carry the lowest rents in the city; RMUTL's Lampang Campus, also in Mueang; and Nation University and Lampang Vocational College both in Phra Bat Subdistrict, on the city's southern side. The nursing college is likewise in Mueang. Two are not in the city at all — Thammasat's campus is roughly 15 km west at Pong Yang Khok in Hang Chat District, on the Lampang–Chiang Mai road, and MCU's Buddhist college moved in 2017 out to Sala Subdistrict in Ko Kha, the district immediately south-west of Mueang Lampang. If you are house-hunting around either of those two, budget for a daily commute or plan to live in the district rather than the city.
