This is a campus, not a separate university. Mahamakut Buddhist University, Si Thammasokkarat Campus is part of Mahamakut Buddhist University, which is headquartered elsewhere in Thailand. Degrees are awarded by the parent institution, and admissions, fees and programme lists are set centrally — check them with Mahamakut Buddhist University rather than assuming the campus sets its own.
Mahamakut Buddhist University, Si Thammasokkarat Campus at a glance
Mahamakut Buddhist University is the other of Thailand's two national Buddhist universities, established by royal command of King Chulalongkorn on 1 October 1893. Its Si Thammasokkarat Campus opened in Nakhon Si Thammarat in 1992 inside the grounds of Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan -- the temple at the centre of the old town and the province's defining landmark.
On 6 June 2011 the campus moved out of the temple to Wat Pa Huai Phra in Na Phru Subdistrict, Phra Phrom District, immediately south of the city, where it is now addressed on the Nakhon Si Thammarat--Ron Phibun road. Phra Phrom is a short hop from Mueang district rather than a separate world, which makes it one of the more commutable campuses in the province.
