Because the school has historically prioritised places for AIT staff and student families, applicants joining the institute directly should apply early, and note the fixed 31 July cut-off.
It does not suit a family who needs one school for the whole of a child's education. For that, the province’s five through-schools are KIS International School Reignwood Park (full IB continuum, boarding from 9), SIAM International School (British, to A-Level), SBS Rangsit (bilingual, to Cambridge A-Level), Global Indian International School (CBSE to Class 12) and Sarasas Witaed Rangsit (Thai bilingual to Grade 12). Families who like the AITIS scale and setting but need the same age ceiling should also compare Thai International School, which is similarly small, similarly American and similarly capped around Grade 6.
Location & getting there
AITIS is inside the AIT campus at 58 Moo 9, Khlong Nueng, Khlong Luang. Most families live on or near the AIT campus itself, within walking or short motorbike distance, with easy access to Thammasat University Hospital nearby. Today there is no rail-transit station within reach of this campus — the SRT Dark Red Line terminates at Rangsit — so families drive or use campus transport.
That is scheduled to change, on a dated timetable. The 8.84 km Red Line Phase II extension from Rangsit to Thammasat University's Rangsit campus adds four stations — and one of them is Khlong Nueng, AITIS's own sub-district. Contracts were signed in May 2026, construction is expected to start in July 2026 and to run around 36 months, with service targeted for 2029. For a family on a two-year posting that is irrelevant and Khlong Luang is a car household. For a family expecting a decade here, or buying rather than renting, it is one of the more consequential things happening in the province. Neither of those should be described as though it were the other.
