The campus, and how you actually get there

Address: 59 Moo 2, Thepkrasattri Road, Koh Kaew, Muang, Phuket

A single purpose-built campus of about 44 acres — large by international-school standards — with boarding houses, an aquatics centre and a notably deep sports and performing-arts estate, including tennis, football, golf, swimming and aerial arts programmes.

Getting there: No rail on the island. Koh Kaew sits on Thepkrasattri Road, the island's main north–south artery, immediately north of Phuket Town — around 10 minutes from the town centre, roughly 25–30 minutes from the airport, and typically 30–45 minutes from the west-coast beaches depending on the hill roads and the hour. BISP runs an extensive bus network, which is how most families outside Phuket Town actually do the run.

Phuket has no rail network of any kind — no BTS, no MRT, no commuter line. The island's long-discussed light rail scheme is still in study and procurement, so every school run here is a car, a motorbike or the school bus. The curriculum pathway

How a child progresses through the school, stage by stage:

• Early Years — play-based, English-medium, on the English Early Years Foundation Stage
• Primary and lower secondary on the English National Curriculum, Key Stages 1–3
• IGCSE examinations in Years 10–11
• Sixth form (Years 12–13): the IB Diploma Programme, which the school describes as the pathway most of its students take, with IB Courses/Certificates as a lighter option
• Sixth form alternative: BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport or in Business — each equivalent to three A-levels, largely coursework-assessed
• The BISP High School Diploma, awarded across Years 10–13 alongside the IGCSE and IB or BTEC qualifications

Accreditation & memberships

Accreditation is the closest thing to an objective quality signal in international schooling — it means an outside body has inspected governance, teaching and safeguarding. Boarding and the size of the school

Boarding: Full and weekly boarding, in boarding houses staffed around the clock by houseparents and assistants, with an on-site nurse and structured weekend activities. The largest boarding operation on the island.

Scale: Around 1,140 students aged 2–18 from more than 56 nationalities, on the school's own reporting. Roll and nationality figures move every year and schools report them differently — treat these as indicative and ask the admissions office for the current numbers.

Who this school tends to suit

Families who want a British primary and middle school but an IB endpoint, families whose child trains seriously in a sport and needs an academy structure or the BTEC Sport route, and families who need boarding — whether from elsewhere in Thailand or from overseas. The Koh Kaew location suits Phuket Town and east-coast living better than the west-coast beaches.

Koh Kaew is on the island's central spine, so the practical catchment runs down the east side and into town:

Check the school's bus catchment before you sign. Phuket is a big island served by one congested north–south spine and a handful of hill roads — a villa that looks close on a map can sit outside the route, and a home on the route can be further away and still be the easier morning.

What to confirm directly with the school

• Which sixth-form pathway suits your child — the IB Diploma, a BTEC Extended Diploma or the High School Diploma route — and the entry grades each requires.
• Boarding places by year group, and whether weekly boarding is available for the age you need.
• Sports and academic scholarship rounds and their deadlines, which run on their own calendar.
• The current fee schedule — tuition, application and registration fees, any refundable deposit or capital/development levy, uniforms, lunches, the bus and trips.
• Whether the year group you need has a place, or a waitlist, for your intended start date.
• School bus routes, catchment zones and pick-up times for the specific beach or town you are considering — Phuket is a large island with a single congested north–south spine, and a home twenty minutes further out on the route can be the easier morning.
• Entry requirements: assessments, interviews, English-language support and the school reports or transcripts you must supply.
• How far the school takes your child — several Phuket schools stop before IGCSE or before sixth form, which means planning a second move.
