Public university · founded 1977 · Kathu District
Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus opened on 14 November 1977 as a campus of Prince of Songkla University -- southern Thailand's flagship public university, established in 1967 with its main campus in Hat Yai, Songkhla. PSU Phuket was created to extend the university onto the island and has since built a distinct identity around hospitality, international studies and the technology needs of a tourism-driven economy.
The campus sits in Kathu District at 80 Moo 1, Wichitsongkram Road -- a short drive from Phuket Town and the west-coast beaches -- and is organised into three faculties (Hospitality and Tourism, International Studies, and Technology and Environment) plus one college (Computing). It runs 14 English-medium international degree programs -- 8 bachelor's, 4 master's and 2 doctoral -- drawing students from more than 20 countries, with particular strength in hotel and tourism management, international business (including a China/Chinese-studies track) and an English-language MBA.
