Samut Prakan · International schools

International schools in Samut Prakan.

Samut Prakan has ten international schools, not the two or three most guides list — because almost every one of them markets itself as a Bangkok school while its campus sits in Bang Phli or Mueang Samut Prakan. One school widely still listed as open closed on 31 July 2026. This guide names all ten, says where each stops, and says what a leaver actually holds.

Overview

The short version

Samut Prakan is not a thin school market. It has ten international schools, spread across two clusters that have almost nothing to do with each other: a dense belt along Bangna-Trad in Bang Phli running from kilometre 7 out past kilometre 15 towards Suvarnabhumi, and a separate, rail-served group at Samrong and along Srinakarin in Mueang Samut Prakan. Between them the province offers the full IB continuum, three IB Diploma routes, two American diploma routes, two British A Level routes, the Singapore curriculum, daily compulsory Mandarin, Panjabi and Hindi at IGCSE, and the only confessionally Christian school in our Thailand coverage outside the mission-founded schools of the north-east. What it does not offer is a stable picture: this is the one province where a school families were shortlisting has closed, and where a well-known school has changed its leaving qualification without the directories catching up. Below: every school, where each stops, what a leaver holds, who is actually accredited, and which listings to distrust. For day-to-day budgeting pair this with the Samut Prakan cost-of-living guide, and use the where-to-live guide to match a neighbourhood to your school.

One school on most shortlists no longer exists

VERSO International School closed on 31 July 2026. It operated from 2020 on a 168-rai campus at Bang Chalong near Suvarnabhumi, and its own website now carries a closure announcement. BTS Group elected to close it after five years and handed the site to Wycombe Abbey; Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok opened on the same campus in August 2026 as a British school with boarding houses. Third-party directories still list VERSO as a live, enrolling school with a student roll and accreditations attached, and AI-generated school round-ups repeat those listings. If you are working from a shortlist compiled before this summer, rebuild it.

The same instability shows up in smaller ways across the province, which is why every profile page here carries a “what has changed recently” section. Raffles American School has moved its senior years from Advanced Placement to the IB Diploma. D-PREP stopped being a primary school when its secondary campus opened in 2024. Thai-Chinese is mid-IB-candidacy. TSI is mid-rename and mid-accreditation at the same time. Every one of those changes post-dates the descriptions still circulating in directories.

Where each school stops — and what a leaver holds

Two separate questions, and this province separates them further than most. SISB Suvarnabhumi stops at Primary 6, around age eleven or twelve, and awards nothing — while being marketed across the Bang Kaeo property corridor as an international school. And a curriculum label is not a qualification: D-PREP runs an American programme to Grade 12 and names no leaving qualification anywhere on its site, offering Advanced Placement subjects for college credit instead, which is a different thing. For a family that may move country again, this table is the decision.

Accredited, authorised, or neither

These are three different claims and schools blur them constantly. A whole-school accreditation — WASC, CIS, NEASC, Cognia, ISQM — means an outside body has assessed the school itself. An examination-board authorisation — IB, Cambridge, College Board — means only that the school may enter pupils for those exams. A membership is neither. In Samut Prakan, three of the ten schools name no accrediting body at all, one is disputed between two different accreditors, one is somewhere between membership and accreditation, and one displays an IB logo its status does not support.

Two clusters, not one corridor

Guides that describe Samut Prakan as a single school corridor are describing Bang Phli and forgetting Samrong. The distinction matters more than usual here, because the two clusters differ on the one thing that decides a school run: whether rail reaches you at all.

ClusterSchoolsWhat it means for the school run
Bang Kaeo / Bangna-Trad km. 7–8, Bang PhliConcordian · Raffles American School · SISB Suvarnabhumi · D-PREP (Main Campus)The densest school corridor in the province — four campuses within a few kilometres, just inside the Samut Prakan line. Families typically base themselves here or in Bang Na on the Bangkok side. No rail reaches these campuses; the nearest urban rail is BTS Bang Na or the MRT Yellow Line along Srinakarin, both a drive away.
Bang Phli Yai, Bang PhliThai-Chinese International School · D-PREP (Secondary Campus)Inland from the Bangna-Trad frontage, off Prasertsin Road. Same district, meaningfully different drive.
Bangna-Trad km. 15 and Bang Chalong, Bang PhliASB Green Valley · Wycombe Abbey International School BangkokThe outer, airport-side end of the belt. Kilometre 15 is not kilometre 7 at 7am. Both of these schools publish boarding houses, which is the practical answer to the distance.
Samrong / Srinakarin, Mueang Samut PrakanTSI International School · Thai-Singapore International School · Bangkok-Chicago Christian International SchoolThe province's only rail-served school cluster, in the corridor of the BTS Sukhumvit extension through Samrong and the MRT Yellow Line terminus. Completely separate from the Bangna-Trad belt and routinely left out of guides that treat Samut Prakan as one school corridor.

One honest gap worth naming: the province’s main school belt is in Bang Phli district, which our own area guides do not cover as a named neighbourhood. Our six Samut Prakan area guides are Bang Na, Samrong, Pak Nam, Bang Pu, Praeksa and Theparak. Bang Na is the closest guide we have to the Bangna-Trad school belt, and the Samrong guide genuinely covers the second cluster. We would rather say that than route you to a page that does not describe where you would actually live.

One more: only D-PREP publishes actual bus routes — Rama 2 to the motorway at On Nut and Prawet, and Bang Kaeo to Bangna-Trad to Srinakarin to Lasalle. Every other school here has a bus service with no published coverage. A catchment claim in a FAQ is not a route you can plan a lease around; Concordian’s list of neighbourhoods it “serves” is marketing copy, not a timetable. Ask for the route map.

Two name collisions that will cost you a phone call

TSI is not TSIS. TSI International School (tsi.ac.th, formerly Thai Sikh International School) is at Samrong Nuea on Thang Rotfai Sai Kao Road. Thai-Singapore International School (tsis.ac.th) is on Srinakarin Road, about seven kilometres away. Both are in Mueang Samut Prakan, both are British-influenced, both run to A Level, and their acronyms differ by one letter. Directory entries for the two appear to have been merged in places. Check the domain and the street address before you contact either.

BCCI is not BCIS. Bangkok-Chicago Christian International School (bcci.ac.th) is in Bang Mueang, Samut Prakan and names no accrediting body anywhere on its site. Bangkok Christian International School (bcis.ac.th) is in Suan Luang, Bangkok, and is a different institution. The Cognia accreditation that surfaces in searches belongs to the second school. Do not credit it to the first.

The same care applies to multi-campus groups. ASB, SISB, TSI and D-PREP each run more than one campus, and in three of those cases one campus is in Bangkok and one is in Samut Prakan with different provision. ASB Sukhumvit is in Watthana, Bangkok; only Green Valley is here. TSI Wongwianyai is in Bangkok and is primary only; only Bearing runs the secondary school. SISB Pracha Uthit is in Bangkok and is where SISB’s boarding and its entire secondary provision sit.

Bilingual and English Programme schools

Beyond the ten international schools, Samut Prakan has bilingual and English Programme options at a fraction of the cost. We name the ones we could verify exist rather than gesturing at “local bilingual schools” as a category — but we have not inspected them, and we have not verified their curricula or admissions in the way we have for the ten above.

Cost is not access. Thai English Programme streams are inexpensive and are recommended everywhere on price — and admission generally runs through an entrance examination, sat in Thai, on a fixed annual timetable. For a newly arrived foreign child with no Thai, that route is frequently closed regardless of budget. Ask about the examination, the language it is sat in and the application window before you count an EP place as an option.

How to test a school listing before you trust it

Samut Prakan is where we would most strongly advise this, because a school here closed and the listings did not notice. Three checks, in order. Does it have its own website domain? Is there a findable street address, with a sub-district and a district, not just a province? Is there a phone number that answers? Then a fourth, specific to this province: does the school’s own homepage carry a closure or rebranding notice? VERSO’s does. A directory entry does not become true because several directories repeat it — they copy each other, and AI-generated school round-ups copy them in turn.

Ask every school on your shortlist

What tuition costs

We publish no per-school fee figures, here or on any school profile, and we removed the ones this page used to carry. The reason is specific rather than squeamish: school fees change every year, most schools here publish only entry-level and top-tier bands rather than a grade-by-grade schedule, and third-party directories routinely quote figures that are tens of thousands of baht adrift from the school’s own current schedule. A stale number that looks authoritative is worse for your planning than no number at all. Request the current, complete fee schedule directly from each school’s admissions office, and ask specifically what sits outside tuition — registration, deposit, lunch, bus, activities, examination entry and capital levies are all commonly separate, and together they can move a budget materially.

FAQ

Samut Prakan international school questions

How many international schools are there in Samut Prakan?

Ten. That number is the reason this guide was rewritten: BAANLYY's own previous version described the province as having 'two established international schools' while listing four in its own table, and the real figure across Bang Phli and Mueang Samut Prakan is ten. The undercount has a specific cause — almost every school here markets itself as a Bangkok school. In the main Bangkok schools database, every one of these campuses is filed with 'Bangkok' as its locality and region while its street address reads Bang Phli, Samut Prakan 10540. Searching 'international schools Bangkok' and 'international schools Samut Prakan' returns two different, incomplete halves of the same list.

Did a school in Samut Prakan close?

Yes. VERSO International School, which operated from 2020 on a 168-rai campus at Bang Chalong near Suvarnabhumi, concluded operations on 31 July 2026 — its own website carries a closure announcement. BTS Group elected to close it after five years and handed the site to Wycombe Abbey, and Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok opened on the same campus in August 2026. Many third-party directories still list VERSO as live and enrolling, with a student roll and accreditations attached. If VERSO is on your shortlist, the shortlist is out of date. This is the only province in our Thailand coverage where a school families were actively considering has closed, which is why every school profile here carries a 'what has changed recently' section.

Is there an IB school in Samut Prakan?

There are three schools running the IB Diploma, and the field has changed recently enough that most listings get it wrong. Concordian International School is the established one — authorised for all three IB programmes, the Primary Years Programme since 2004, the Middle Years Programme since 2007 and the Diploma Programme since March 2008. The American School of Bangkok's Green Valley campus took IB Diploma authorisation in March 2022 and runs it alongside AP Capstone. And Raffles American School now describes the IB Diploma as its main academic pathway for Grades 11 and 12, having moved away from Advanced Placement — though Raffles does not publish an IB status word on its own site, so confirm its authorisation directly. Separately, Thai-Chinese International School displays an IB Diploma logo but holds candidate status only, which is explicitly not a guarantee of authorisation.

Which Samut Prakan schools offer boarding?

Two publish boarding houses on their own campus: the American School of Bangkok Green Valley, which lists two dormitories, one male and one female, alongside day places; and Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok, which advertises family-style houses with housemasters and housemistresses and flexi, weekly or full boarding — though it opened in August 2026, so that is a stated offer rather than an established operation. Two others are commonly and wrongly recorded as boarding schools. SISB's boarding is real but sits at the group's Pracha Uthit campus in Bangkok, roughly 30 km away, not at Suvarnabhumi — a directory row reading 'SISB: boarding yes' is true of the group and false of the campus in this province. And Concordian's navigation carries a residency programme whose page has no descriptive content and was last updated in 2021, so we cannot confirm it is currently operating.

Which school in Samut Prakan is actually near a train?

Only the Samrong cluster. TSI International School at Samrong Nuea, and Thai-Singapore International School on Srinakarin nearby, sit in the corridor served by the BTS Sukhumvit line extension through Samrong and the MRT Yellow Line, which terminates there. Every other school in this guide is in the Bangna-Trad and Suvarnabhumi belt in Bang Phli, where no urban rail reaches the campus at all. We are deliberately not publishing walking times we have not measured — name the station, name the road, and test the journey at the hour you would actually travel.

Where does each school stop, and what does a leaver hold?

Ask both questions, because they are different and this province separates them. SISB Suvarnabhumi stops at Primary 6, around age eleven or twelve, and awards no leaving qualification at all — despite being marketed across the Bang Kaeo property corridor as an international school. Every other school here runs to Grade 12 or Year 13. But the qualification varies more than the curriculum label suggests: Concordian, ASB Green Valley and Raffles lead to the IB Diploma, TCIS and BCCI to a US high school diploma, TSI and Thai-Singapore to A Level, Wycombe Abbey to A Level in intention, and D-PREP names no leaving qualification anywhere on its site — it offers Advanced Placement subjects for college credit, which is not the same thing. Ask what a Grade 12 leaver actually holds.

Where should families live for schools in Samut Prakan?

That depends which of the two separate school clusters you choose, and older guides describing Samut Prakan as a single corridor get this wrong. The main belt runs along Bangna-Trad in Bang Phli district from kilometre 7 to kilometre 15 — Concordian, Raffles, SISB and D-PREP at the near end, Thai-Chinese inland at Bang Phli Yai, ASB Green Valley and Wycombe Abbey at the far, airport-side end. Families choosing these schools typically base themselves along the corridor or in Bang Na on the Bangkok side, and drive. The second cluster is at Samrong and along Srinakarin in Mueang Samut Prakan, where TSI, Thai-Singapore and BCCI sit in the rail corridor. Worth noting honestly: the province's main school belt is in Bang Phli, which our own area guides do not cover as a named neighbourhood — Bang Na is the closest guide we have to it.

This guide is general information for relocation planning, not admissions or financial advice. BAANLYY does not rank, endorse or accept payment from schools. School fees, curricula, campus locations, accreditation status and admissions rules change — confirm current details directly with each school.
