Institute of Vocational Education: Northeastern Region 4 at a glance
The Institute of Vocational Education: Northeastern Region 4 is a degree-awarding higher-education institution headquartered in Ubon Ratchathani -- at 632 Moo 4 on the Warin-Phibun road in Bung Mai subdistrict, Warin Chamrap, on a site of about 31 rai. It was created under the Vocational Education Act of 2008 and the 2012 ministerial regulation that grouped vocational colleges into institutes, published in the Royal Gazette on 27 June 2012.
It is the reason a technical-college student in Ubon Ratchathani can finish with a bachelor's degree without leaving the province. The institute confers the Bachelor of Technology; the teaching happens in its seven member colleges, three of which are in Ubon Ratchathani province -- Ubon Ratchathani Technical College, Ubon Ratchathani Vocational College and Det Udom Technical College. The remaining four are in Si Sa Ket (two), Yasothon and Amnat Charoen.
This split matters when you are checking whether a course is a degree. The colleges' own names say nothing about degrees, and each also runs the sub-degree vocational certificate and higher vocational certificate; only the institute awards at bachelor's level. Current bachelor's subjects at the Ubon Ratchathani Technical College side include automotive, electrical, computer, manufacturing, electronics, electric-vehicle and civil technology.
