Three autonomous universities carry the province's name — UBU out in Warin Chamrap, UBRU on Ratchathani Road in the city centre, and the private Ratchathani University on the ring road. They are not the whole picture. A national Buddhist university runs a full regional campus here, two Ministry of Public Health colleges award nursing and public-health degrees through a national institute, and a vocational institute headquartered in Warin Chamrap awards the Bachelor of Technology taught in its member technical colleges. Here is each one, where it sits, and who actually confers the degree.
Four of the seven entries above do not confer their own degrees. The MCU campus awards under Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in Bangkok. The nursing college and the public-health college both award under the Praboromarajchanok Institute, which only became a degree-granting body in its own right when its Act was gazetted on 5 April 2019 — so anything written about either college before that date describes a different legal entity. And the vocational institute in Warin Chamrap confers the Bachelor of Technology that is taught inside its member technical colleges, whose own names mention no degree at all. If you are checking whether a course in Ubon Ratchathani is a real bachelor's degree, ask who awards it, not what the campus is called.
Three things a student might reasonably expect are genuinely absent, and we would rather name the absence than pad the list. Thailand National Sports University has no Ubon Ratchathani campus — its northeastern campuses are Chaiyaphum, Maha Sarakham, Si Sa Ket and Udon Thani, the last two being the nearest. The Bunditpatanasilpa Institute has no college of dramatic arts here; the closest is at Roi Et. And Ramkhamhaeng University's regional study centres do not include Ubon Ratchathani — the nearest is in Amnat Charoen, about 75 km north. If you find current information that contradicts any of these, it is worth checking directly with the institution; we will correct this page.
