Suratthani Rajabhat University is a public Rajabhat university whose main campus is on the mainland at 272 Moo 9, Khun Thale, Mueang Surat Thani -- roughly 600 rai, and by the university's own account about 9km from the provincial city. It is one of the 41 Rajabhat institutes that became universities in their own right under the Rajabhat University Act of 2004. On the island side, SRU's own institutional timeline records that it opened an off-campus study centre in Ko Samui district in B.E. 2545 (2002).

That centre became a college on 26 March 2024, when the university council resolved (meeting 3/2567) to establish the Koh Samui Interdisciplinary School as an internal unit of SRU with status equivalent to a faculty. It now sits alongside the university's other faculties and college-level units in Bo Phut. Its own current programme page lists a single bachelor's degree -- a BBA in hotel, accommodation and culinary arts business management, taken as either a hotel and accommodation major or a culinary arts major -- and it runs a working hotel-rooms training centre, U HUB Chaweng, as part of its teaching operation.
