Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Surat Thani at a glance
Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Surat Thani grew out of an earlier nursing-assistant school established to address a shortage of nurses in the province. In 1994 Thailand's Ministry of Public Health restructured the college under its health-manpower development institute, and it was granted its royal name, "Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Surat Thani", as one of the colleges in the nationwide Boromarajonani network.
Its status changed materially in 2019 and BAANLYY's earlier description had not caught up. The Praboromarajchanok Institute Act B.E. 2562, published in the Royal Gazette on 5 April 2019, turned the Praboromarajchanok Institute from an administrative network of colleges into a specialist health-sciences higher-education institution in its own right -- a juristic person and a government agency under the Ministry of Public Health, organised into faculties across regional campuses. The practical consequence for a student here is that the qualification is a degree of a degree-granting institution, not a certificate issued by a hospital training school.
The college sits at 56/6 Moo 2, Sriwichai Road, Makham Tia subdistrict, Mueang district, training nurses and allied health professionals for hospitals across the province and the wider southern region.
