This is the degree site closest to the middle of Surat Thani city, and until 2026 BAANLYY did not list it at all. It sits at Wat Phatthanaram on Patthanaram Road in Talat subdistrict -- in the town itself, not out on the ring road like the Khun Thale and Khao Tha Phet campuses.

Its history is precise and documented by the college. In 2003 MCU's Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus, together with the Surat Thani provincial sangha, proposed extending bachelor's teaching in Religion to Wat Phatthanaram. The academic council approved on 18 April 2003 and the university council on 25 April 2003, and the first cohort of thirty monks enrolled in the first semester of the 2003 academic year. The university council approved a Political Science programme in Public Administration on 26 March 2009 and a Buddhist Management programme on 29 April 2010. It is now listed by MCU itself as one of its regional Buddhist Colleges, no longer an extension classroom of another campus.

The point most likely to be missed by a foreign reader: from the 2009 expansion onward these programmes were opened to lay students as well as ordained ones. MCU is a state university -- a legal entity established under the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Act, published in the Royal Gazette on 1 October 1997 -- and its degrees are ordinary Thai degrees, not internal monastic certificates. Teaching is in Thai.
