The campus, and how you actually get there

A newly built Rawai campus opened in 2024 for Primary and Secondary, with the Kindergarten remaining on a separate site in Chalong. Facilities include a science laboratory, a business and AI-literacy centre, and the Apex Lions Football Academy.

Getting there: No rail on the island, and Lighthouse is a two-site southern school — Kindergarten in Chalong, Primary and Secondary in Rawai, a few minutes apart. Chalong sits at the southern crossroads, Rawai beyond it at the island's tip. Phuket Town is roughly 30 minutes and the airport around an hour, so this is a school for families who intend to live in the south rather than commute to it.

Phuket has no rail network of any kind — no BTS, no MRT, no commuter line. The island's long-discussed light rail scheme is still in study and procurement, so every school run here is a car, a motorbike or the school bus. The curriculum pathway

How a child progresses through the school, stage by stage:

• Kindergarten from age 2, at the Chalong site
• Primary at the Rawai campus
• Secondary Grades 7–12 on the Canadian Alberta curriculum, leading to the Alberta High School Diploma
• Optional Cambridge International pathway — IGCSE and A Level — alongside the Alberta route
• A French department, and a Thai Ministry of Education diploma route
• Project-based and personalised learning with mixed-age classes and continuous assessment

Accreditation & memberships

Accreditation is the closest thing to an objective quality signal in international schooling — it means an outside body has inspected governance, teaching and safeguarding. Boarding: Day school — no boarding.

Scale: A young and growing school — the Rawai Primary and Secondary campus only opened in 2024, so year groups are still filling out. Ask which grades are actually running before you plan around it. Roll and nationality figures move every year and schools report them differently — treat these as indicative and ask the admissions office for the current numbers.

Who this school tends to suit

Canadian families and anyone who wants a North American diploma without the US system, families in Rawai, Nai Harn and Chalong who want a school on their side of the island, and footballing families drawn to the academy. Its youth cuts both ways — small cohorts and attention, but a shorter track record than BISP, UWC or Headstart.

Living near Lighthouse International School Phuket

Two southern sites, one southern catchment:

Check the school's bus catchment before you sign. Phuket is a big island served by one congested north–south spine and a handful of hill roads — a villa that looks close on a map can sit outside the route, and a home on the route can be further away and still be the easier morning.

What to confirm directly with the school

• Which grades are actually running this year at each site — a campus that opened in 2024 fills from the bottom, and the published range may run ahead of the operating one.
• The current scope of the Alberta accreditation, which Alberta Education publishes by grade range.
• Whether the Cambridge IGCSE / A Level option is being offered for your child's cohort, or only on demand.
• The current fee schedule — tuition, application and registration fees, any refundable deposit or capital/development levy, uniforms, lunches, the bus and trips.
• Whether the year group you need has a place, or a waitlist, for your intended start date.
• School bus routes, catchment zones and pick-up times for the specific beach or town you are considering — Phuket is a large island with a single congested north–south spine, and a home twenty minutes further out on the route can be the easier morning.
• Entry requirements: assessments, interviews, English-language support and the school reports or transcripts you must supply.
• How far the school takes your child — several Phuket schools stop before IGCSE or before sixth form, which means planning a second move.
