Where the campus is

Ban Chang district, Rayong — inland from Ban Chang town on the Makham Khu road, and a few minutes from the Pala cluster where Garden and REPS sit. Convenient, in Cognita's own words, "for the communities of Pattaya and Rayong", but materially closer to Rayong. There is no rail. Any guide — including our own until this revision — that describes this school as being between Pattaya and Sriracha, or as a natural choice for the Laem Chabang and Sriracha corporate community, has it geographically backwards.

Who owns and operates it

Cognita — a London-headquartered global group operating schools across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, including three other St. Andrews campuses in Bangkok. This makes St. Andrews Green Valley the only international school in Rayong province outside the Garden/REPS group, and therefore the only genuinely independent second opinion on a Rayong shortlist.

The campus

A low-rise campus of around 30 rai in open country near the Green Valley golf area — notably green even by Eastern Seaboard standards. The setting is the selling point and also the constraint: it is a countryside school, not a town one. Facilities reported by directories include swimming, golf, football, basketball, athletics, gymnastics and cricket, with ballet, drama, sailing and horse riding among the activities.

The academic pathway

• Early Years from age 2 (Cognita) — the isbi directory records an age floor of 3, and the two disagree.
• Primary blending the English National Curriculum with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) — the only PYP provision in Rayong province.
• Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10 and 11.
• The IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13, taught on campus.
• A Dutch stream programme for students whose first language is Dutch — a provision we have found nowhere else in this rotation, and a genuine differentiator in a province whose corporate community is heavily European. Dutch also appears in the school's taught-languages list alongside Mandarin and French.

Leaving qualification: IB Diploma, taught on campus.

Accreditation, exam boards & membership

• Owned and operated by Cognita, a global schools group headquartered in London, alongside St. Andrews Sathorn, Sukhumvit 107 and Dusit in Bangkok. It is a Cognita school, not a Nord Anglia one — the two are frequently confused in Eastern Seaboard listings.
• IB World School authorised for both the Primary Years Programme and the Diploma Programme.
• Member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).
• Cambridge-authorised for IGCSE delivery.
• Member of FOBISIA, the Federation of British International Schools in Asia.
• Licensed under Thailand's Ministry of Education framework for international and private schools.

Boarding

A day school. Cognita classifies it as "Day School, International School" on its own corporate page, and the isbi directory records zero full boarders and zero weekly boarders against its roll. If you need boarding in Rayong, Garden's dozen beds are the only international provision in the province, and Rugby School Thailand and Regents Pattaya run substantially larger programmes an hour north.

Scale of the school

Reported inconsistently: the isbi directory records 370 day pupils (190 boys, 180 girls) and no boarders; other sources give around 400 students from 35 nationalities, and around 450 from 30-plus nationalities. All three describe a mid-sized school, materially smaller than the large Pattaya campuses. We publish the spread rather than pick one.

Who it tends to suit

Families who want the IB from the primary years rather than only in the sixth form — this is the province's only PYP school — and families who want a countryside campus with space. It is the natural second quote for anyone whose first call was Garden, precisely because it is the one school in the province under different ownership. Dutch-speaking families should look here first, in Thailand generally and not just in Rayong.

Confirm these with the school before you commit

• The founding year, if it matters to you. Sources report the mid-1990s, 1996 and 1999, and we state none rather than guess.
• The youngest age actually admitted this year — Cognita says 2, the isbi directory says 3.
• The current roll. Published figures range from 370 to about 450, which is a wide spread for a school this size.
• Whether the Dutch stream is running for your child's year group. A language stream depends on cohort numbers in a way a mainstream class does not.
• The bus catchment for your neighbourhood. This is a countryside campus reached on the Makham Khu road, and the practical catchment is not the same as Garden's despite the two being in one district.
• That any listing you are reading is about this school and this province. The International Schools Database files St. Andrews Green Valley under PATTAYA, which is in Chonburi; doris, Cognita, isbi and the IB all file it under Rayong. That single discrepancy is the origin of the error this page corrects.
• Who owns and operates the school, and whether the alternative you are comparing it against has the same owner. In Ban Chang two of the three campuses are one organisation. That is not a criticism of either school — it is a fact about how much your shortlist is really comparing.
• The qualification your child will actually leave with, and whether the final two years are taught on this campus or through a partner. Both of Rayong's IB Diploma schools teach the sixth form on site, which is not true everywhere on the Eastern Seaboard — confirm it is still true for your intake year.
• The current fee schedule — tuition, application and enrolment fees, any refundable deposit, uniforms, lunches, the bus and trips. We link each school's own fees page rather than reprint a number that goes stale every August.
• Whether the year group you need has a place for your intended start date. Three schools in one district sounds like choice until a single cohort is full.
• The school bus route and pick-up time for the exact neighbourhood you are considering — then ask what time the bus gets back. Ban Chang, Rayong city and Ban Phe are three genuinely different morning runs.
• For boarding: how many beds actually exist, the age it starts, and the weekly-versus-full options running this year. Boarding capacity in Ban Chang is very small, and 'we offer boarding' and 'we have a place for your child' are different answers.
• Entry requirements: assessment or placement testing, interviews, English-language support, and the reports or transcripts you must supply.
