Overview

The short version

Rayong is the most geographically concentrated school market we cover: all 3 of the province's international and bilingual schools sit in Ban Chang district, within minutes of each other. Unlike Pattaya, Ayutthaya or Krabi, nobody here has to cross a provincial boundary or plan an hour's drive. Two of the three — Garden International School and St. Andrews Green Valley — run the IB Diploma, and both teach the sixth form on their own campus rather than through a distance-learning partner, which is not true everywhere on the Eastern Seaboard. The third, the Royal English Programme School, is a Thai-curriculum bilingual school rather than an international one.

The fact no directory shows you is ownership. Garden and REPS are one organisation — each lists the other under “OUR CAMPUSES” on its own website — so a family comparing them is comparing two products from one provider at two price points, not two rival quotes. St. Andrews Green Valley, owned by the Cognita group, is the only international school in Rayong under different ownership. Pair this with the Rayong cost-of-living guide and the where-to-live guide.

Correcting what this page used to say

We would rather flag this than quietly change it. Until this revision, this guide told families that Garden International School was the only fully international school based in Rayong province, that there was no IB Primary Years Programme in the province, and that anyone wanting one had to look “across the Chonburi border” to St. Andrews Green Valley in Bang Lamung. St. Andrews Green Valley is in Ban Chang district, Rayong — its owner Cognita publishes the address as Samnak Thon, Ban Chang District, Rayong 21130, the isbi directory records 1 Moo 7 on the Ban Chang–Makham Khu Road, and the International Baccalaureate's own school record is filed under Rayong. The likely origin of the error is that the International Schools Database files the school under Pattaya, which is in Chonburi. If you read our Rayong or Pattaya school pages before August 2026 and ruled the school out on distance, please look again.

The 3 schools, and who owns them

This is the whole field in Rayong province, not a selection. It is a starting point, not a ranking — no school pays to appear here.

Where each school stops, and what your child leaves with

Read this before curriculum, before fees and before neighbourhoods. Rayong's 3 schools produce 2 distinct leaving outcomes, and the cheapest option is a different outcome rather than a cheaper version of the same one.

Both of the province's IB Diploma schools teach Years 12 and 13 on their own campus. That is worth saying plainly, because it is not the norm in smaller Thai markets — in Pattaya, Koh Samui, Krabi and Ayutthaya we have found post-16 routes that turn out to be blended, hybrid or delivered through a distance-learning college.

Accreditation, authorisation and ownership

Three different things that listings routinely merge. Accreditation is a whole-school inspection by a body such as CIS. Authorisation is permission to deliver a specific programme, such as the IB Diploma or Cambridge IGCSE. Ownership is who runs the school — and in Rayong it is the one that changes your shortlist.

Boarding: real, but very small

Garden International School offers full and weekly boarding from Year 5, in specially-adapted terrace housing on a secure estate near the campus, with staff on site full time. The number that changes the decision is the capacity: about twelve students in total. That makes it a genuine option for a family posted elsewhere on the Eastern Seaboard — and something to secure a long way ahead rather than to fall back on. A boarding house is also recorded for REPS by Wikipedia and reflected in doris's count of two boarding schools in the province, but we could not confirm it from the school's own website and will not imply it. St. Andrews Green Valley is a day school: Cognita classifies it as one and the isbi directory records zero boarders. For a large boarding programme, Rugby School Thailand and Regents Pattaya are an hour north.

Thai national curriculum & English Programme options

Earlier versions of this guide skipped this tier entirely, which quietly implied Rayong has nothing between a full international fee and a mainstream Thai school. It does. These are named, verified options rather than a complete census of the province.

SchoolAreaWhat it is
Royal English Programme School (REPS)Pala, Ban ChangPrivate bilingual, and reported to be the first licensed English Programme school in Rayong province. Thai national curriculum taught in Thai and English, Nursery 1 to Mattayom 6. Profiled in full above — it is listed here as well because it belongs to this tier, not to the international one.
Rayongwittayakom SchoolMueang RayongA public secondary school in Rayong city running an English Programme, plus a Mathematics and Science taught in English stream reported to have run since 2012. State school entry is by Thai examination on a fixed national timetable — see the caveat below.

Cost is not the same as access. Thai state English Programme streams admit by entrance examination, sat in Thai, on a fixed national timetable — usually around late January and February. For most newly-arrived foreign children that closes the route regardless of budget. Ask about the examination date and the Thai-language standard expected before you build a plan around a state EP place.

What tuition costs

We no longer publish per-school fee tables. This page previously carried one, and every figure in it was a planning range that goes stale each August while sitting on the page looking like data. Fee schedules are reviewed annually, they differ by year group, and the extras that actually move a family budget — registration, deposit, bus, lunches, uniform, examination entries, boarding — are quoted separately by every school. Request the current schedule directly: Garden International School fees, St. Andrews Green Valley admissions, and REPS admissions. What we will say is structural and stable: the two international schools sit in the same broad band as each other, REPS sits far below both, and that gap is a curriculum gap rather than a discount.

Where to live for Rayong's schools

There is no rail anywhere in Rayong province, so a car or a confirmed school bus route decides this. The good news is that, for once, the school does not dictate the neighbourhood — because every school is in the same district.

AreaSchools in reachWhy families live there
Ban ChangGarden International School, St. Andrews Green Valley, REPS — all threeEvery international school in Rayong province is in this district. Garden and REPS sit next door to each other at Pala; St. Andrews Green Valley is inland at Samnak Thon on the Makham Khu road. Ban Chang is also closest to U-Tapao airport and the industrial estates, which is why most relocating families end up here. If schooling drives your decision, this is the answer.
Rayong cityAll three, by daily bus or carCheaper everyday rentals and far more malls, hospitals and amenities, at the cost of a genuine morning run east to Ban Chang. Entirely workable — but confirm the bus route for your specific soi before you sign, and ask what time it gets back, not just what time it collects.
Ban Phe / Mae RamphuengAll three, on a longer runCoastal living for families who want the beach and the Koh Samet ferry more than a short school run. The drive is real and there is no rail anywhere in the province, so this only works if you have confirmed a bus route or are content to drive twice a day.

British, bilingual & IB — which curriculum?

Garden runs an enhanced National Curriculum for England and Wales through EYFS, Primary and Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE at 16, then the IB Diploma — a well-trodden path back to the UK, the Commonwealth or any IB-recognising university. St. Andrews Green Valley reaches the IB earlier, blending the IB Primary Years Programme into its English National Curriculum primary school before IGCSEs and the IB Diploma; it is the only PYP provision in the province, and it also runs a Dutch stream for children whose first language is Dutch, which we have found nowhere else in this rotation and which matters in a province with a heavily European corporate community. REPS is the different one: the Thai national curriculum taught in both Thai and English under an English Programme licence, with Cambridge materials — excellent if you want real biliteracy and a Thai qualification, a poor fit if you expect to move country again. If another international move is likely, either IB Diploma travels; a Mattayom 6 certificate does not, in the same way.

Admissions & relocation tips

With only two full international schools in the province, a single full cohort can decide where you live — start six to twelve months out where you can, and ask about your child's specific year group rather than the school in general. Expect to submit recent reports, sit an assessment or interview, and show English-language readiness. Gather transcripts, immunisation records and references before you leave home, and confirm whether your employer's relocation package covers tuition, the bus and boarding. Two questions worth asking that most families do not: who owns the school you are comparing this one against, and which qualification does my child actually leave with. In Rayong, both answers are more surprising than they should be.

FAQ

Rayong international school questions

How many international schools are there in Rayong?

Three, and all 3 of them are in Ban Chang district: Garden International School and the Royal English Programme School at Pala, and St. Andrews International School Green Valley at Samnak Thon. An earlier version of this guide described St. Andrews Green Valley as being in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, and told families they had to cross a provincial border for the IB Primary Years Programme. That was wrong. Its owner Cognita publishes the address as Ban Chang District, Rayong 21130, and the International Baccalaureate's own school record is titled "St. Andrews International School, Green Valley, Rayong".

Is Garden International School the only fully international school in Rayong?

No — and this guide previously said it was. Rayong province has two full international schools running to age 18, Garden International School and St. Andrews Green Valley, and both award the IB Diploma taught on their own campus. St. Andrews additionally runs the IB Primary Years Programme, which is the only PYP provision in the province. The Royal English Programme School is a different kind of school: a Thai-curriculum bilingual school, not an international one.

Are Garden International School and REPS separate schools?

They are separate schools, but not separate organisations, and that is the single most useful thing to know before you treat them as competing quotes. Garden's own website lists REPS under "OUR CAMPUSES" and REPS lists Garden; their street addresses are 188/24 and 188/46 on the same Moo in the same tambon; their telephone numbers are consecutive; and their parent portals run on sibling domains. WhichSchoolAdvisor names the common owner as the Malaysia-based Taylor's Education Group. St. Andrews Green Valley, owned by the London-headquartered Cognita group, is the only international school in the province under different ownership — which makes it the only genuinely independent second opinion on a Rayong shortlist.

Is REPS a cheaper international school?

No. It is a Thai school with a Ministry of Education English Programme licence, teaching the Thai national curriculum bilingually in Thai and English using Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary materials. The lower fee level reflects a different product, not a discount on the same one — and the difference that matters is the exit. We do not assert that REPS students sit external Cambridge IGCSE examinations, because the school does not publish that on the pages we could read. Ask in writing which qualification a child leaves with, and at which registered examination centre if any. That answer decides whether the school is a route to a foreign university without a bridging year.

Does any school in Rayong offer boarding?

Garden International School does, from Year 5, in full and weekly formats — but read the capacity before you plan around it. The boarding house is adapted terrace housing on a secure estate near the campus, accommodating a maximum of about twelve students in total. A boarding house is also recorded for REPS by third-party sources, though we could not confirm it from the school's own website. St. Andrews Green Valley is a day school: Cognita classifies it as one, and the isbi directory records zero boarders. For a substantial boarding programme on the Eastern Seaboard you are looking at Rugby School Thailand or Regents in Pattaya, an hour north.

Are there American or IB-only schools in Rayong?

There is no American-curriculum school in Rayong province; the nearest is the International School of the Eastern Seaboard at Bo Win in Sriracha, Chonburi, roughly 45 to 60 minutes away. There is no IB-only school either — both of Rayong's IB Diploma schools run a British curriculum underneath, with St. Andrews blending the IB Primary Years Programme into its English National Curriculum primary school and Garden running the English curriculum to IGCSE before the Diploma.

What about Thai state and English Programme schools?

Rayong has them, and this guide previously ignored the tier entirely. REPS is the province's first licensed English Programme school, and Rayongwittayakom School in Rayong city is a public secondary running an English Programme plus a Mathematics and Science in English stream. The catch is not cost, it is access: Thai state English Programme streams admit by entrance examination sat in Thai on a fixed national timetable, which closes the route to most newly-arrived foreign children regardless of budget. We have verified these two exist; we have not inspected the wider Thai private and Catholic field in Rayong and do not present this as a complete list.

Where should families live for schools in Rayong?

Ban Chang, for most families — every international school in the province is in that one district, and it is also closest to U-Tapao and the industrial estates. Rayong city works if you prefer the amenities and have confirmed a bus route; the coast at Ban Phe and Mae Ramphueng works only if you have genuinely checked the run. There is no rail anywhere in Rayong province, so a car or a confirmed school bus is not optional.

This guide is general information for relocation planning, not admissions or financial advice. BAANLYY does not rank, endorse or accept payment from schools. School curricula, campus locations, ownership, boarding and admissions rules change — confirm current details directly with each school.
