Mabprachan Lake (often written Mabprachan Reservoir) sits in the eastern hinterland behind Pattaya, and the loop of roads around it has become one of the largest settled Western expat communities in the region. It is villa country — pool homes, gated estates and a scattering of long-established bars, bakeries and restaurants run by foreign residents — wrapped around a calm freshwater lake used for rowing, fishing and lakeside dining.
This is the antithesis of Walking Street: rural, spacious and quiet, popular with retirees and families who want a house and a garden rather than a condo. The coast and the malls are a twenty-minute drive, so it suits people who are happy to drive and who value community, value and calm over walkability. Silverlake Vineyard, Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain) and several golf courses are all close by.

It appeals to retirees and families who prefer a house and calm over a condo and nightlife, and who are comfortable driving to the coast.
Roughly 20 minutes by car to Central Pattaya and Jomtien beaches. There is very little public transport out here, so a car or scooter is essential for daily life.
