Public Vocational College (awards a bachelor's degree) · founded 1938 · Mueang Rayong
Rayong Technical College is a public vocational college in Tha Pradu Subdistrict, Mueang Rayong District, per the college's own official site (technicrayong.ac.th), which lists its address as 086/13 Taksin Maharat Road, Tha Pradu, Mueang Rayong, Rayong 21000 and its campus as 76 rai 2 ngan 17 sq wa.
It awards a bachelor's degree, which is the fact most often got wrong about Thai vocational colleges -- and which BAANLYY itself previously got wrong on this page. Alongside its vocational certificates (ปวช.) and higher vocational certificates (ปวส.), the college teaches the Bachelor of Technology (ทล.บ.), awarded not by the college but by the Institute of Vocational Education: Eastern Region (สถาบันการอาชีวศึกษาภาคตะวันออก), the degree-granting institute the college belongs to. The institute's current programme list names four ทล.บ. taught here: Energy Technology, Petrochemical Technology, Electrical Technology and Mechanical Technology -- all of them 'continuing' (ต่อเนื่อง) degrees, entered from a ปวส. rather than from school, and taught in Thai.
The college's own year-by-year record shows the degree arriving in B.E. 2558 (2015) with ทล.บ. in Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology and Accounting; Accounting was discontinued in 2559 (2016); Petrochemical, Energy Technology and Mechanical Technology opened in 2562 (2019) as Automotive Technology closed; and Information Technology opened in 2563 (2020). That last one does not appear on the institute's current list, and the two first-party pages are not reconciled -- confirm the live intake with the college before planning around it.
The college dates from 3 October B.E. 2481 (1938), when the Department of Vocational Education and Rayong province founded 'Rayong Carpentry School' in the preaching hall of the disused Wat Keng -- the site now occupied by Rayong Hospital -- with a first intake of 34 students. Five rai were donated by Mr. Liang Piampongsan, five more bought in 1958, and the school was merged with Rayong Girls' Trade School in 1966, renamed Rayong Technical School on 1 May 1977, and raised to college status as Rayong Technical College on 1 May 1980.
Teaching spans industrial trades, business administration, home economics, tourism, and digital and information technology, with mechatronics and robotics added at ปวส. level in 2562 (2019) and architecture at ปวช. level in 2567 (2024) -- a curriculum that tracks Rayong's role as an industrial and petrochemical hub in the Eastern Economic Corridor.
