Pathum Thani is Thailand's densest higher-education province outside Bangkok itself, and the list is longer than most people expect: Thammasat's sprawling Rangsit campus, two state universities headquartered here in RMUTT and Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat, the international postgraduate Asian Institute of Technology, four private universities from Rangsit to Sam Khok, and a Ministry of Education institute in Bang Phun that awards degrees to the province's vocational students. Here is where each sits, what it actually awards, and its official site for current admissions.
Asking “which universities are in Pathum Thani?” gets you a shorter answer than asking “what awards a degree in Pathum Thani?”, and the second question is the useful one. Two of the bodies below are not universities at all. The Asian Institute of Technology grants its degrees under its own 1967 Royal Thai Government charter rather than as a Thai university, and awards no bachelor's degree — it is postgraduate only. The Institute of Vocational Education, Central Region 1 is a Ministry of Education institute headquartered in Bang Phun that awards the Bachelor of Technology to students continuing from a vocational diploma. Both are seated in this province and both hand out degrees, so both are listed.
The other direction matters too. Some campuses here belong to universities seated elsewhere — Thammasat and Bangkok University are Bangkok institutions whose main teaching has moved to Pathum Thani — while some institutions seated here carry another place's name: Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi publishes an address in Khlong Luang District, not Thanyaburi. And a body being famous in the province is not the same as being based in it: Panyapiwat Institute of Management, often mentioned alongside these campuses, is seated in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, so it is not counted here.
Oldest lineage on this list: Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage, 1932 — though like Thammasat it was founded in Bangkok and moved to Pathum Thani later.
