Taling Ngam is on Samui's south-west coast, a secluded, hilly stretch facing the Five Islands and the Ang Thong Marine Park. It is one of the island's quietest and most exclusive areas, well away from the busy east-coast beaches of Chaweng and Lamai, with Nathon town and the Lipa Noi car-ferry pier the nearest hubs.

It suits people who want privacy, dramatic sunset sea views and a genuine retreat over convenience and nightlife. Taling Ngam is home to luxury resorts and hillside villas with outstanding views, but it is remote: a car is essential and shops, dining and the airport are a fair drive away on the far side of the island.
