Saint John Mary International School (SJMIS)

The most complete international school in the province and the anchor of Saraburi's international provision. It runs Advanced Placement as a named on-campus programme and is a College Board AP test centre in its own right, additionally hosting SAT, TOEFL iBT and HSK testing — so a leaver can sit the American university-entry sequence without leaving campus. One caution worth reading literally: the school describes boarding supervision by “dorm deans or homestay parents”, which covers two materially different arrangements. Ask which one applies to your child's year group, where it physically is, and who is responsible overnight.

California Prep International School (CPIS)

Where: Kaeng Khoi — Ban Pa, on Mittraphap (Friendship) Road

Curriculum: American (California), delivered as a blend of campus and structured home study

Founded in 2010 and built from the outset around a blend of campus teaching and structured study at home. That model is an unusually direct fit for the mobile, remote-working families this site is built for — a DTV or long-stay family that travels may find it suits better than a school that penalises absence. Because the delivery is partly online and no whole-school accreditation is named, ask in writing what a leaver actually holds and which body stands behind it before enrolling. Note also that founders' biographies list extensive accreditation consulting for other schools; that experience belongs to the individuals, not to this school.

Adventist International Mission School (AIMS)

Where: Muak Lek — on the Asia-Pacific International University campus

A parochial school on the university campus at Muak Lek, which gives it facilities and a staff base a stand-alone provincial school would not have. Its religious character is explicit and published, which is the honest position: it welcomes applicants of all beliefs who are willing to work within the conservative social framework of the school. Read that clause literally rather than as boilerplate. Two practical notes — it operates as the laboratory school for the university's Education Department, so ask how much teaching is delivered by trainees under supervision; and there is a live name collision with the former Adventist International Mission School Korat, now renamed Korat Adventist International School, a different school in a different province.

John Wyatt Montessori — Saraburi Campus

The smallest and least conventional of the four, listed because a complete picture is more useful than a curated one. No external leaving qualification is named anywhere we could find: a Montessori adolescent programme is a pedagogy, not an examination route. If your child may need IGCSEs, A-Levels, an IB Diploma or a US diploma, ask specifically how this campus delivers them rather than assuming it does. It is one campus of a wider network, so confirm staffing, the age groups actually running and facilities for this site specifically — the age a school offers and the age it currently has a viable class in are different questions.

The institution that has changed Saraburi's higher-education picture most, and the one almost no English-language guide to the province mentions — because it only arrived in 2023. The Royal Thai Air Force's officer academy was founded in Bangkok (cabinet approval 14 May 1952, first thirty cadets reporting 1 May 1953, formal opening 7 May 1953) and was renamed Navaminda Kasatriyadhiraj by King Bhumibol on 7 May 2013 for its sixtieth anniversary. It left Don Mueang for a purpose-built campus at Muak Lek and began teaching there on 29 May 2023; King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida formally opened the new campus on 22 February 2025. It is a real degree institution: its own curriculum pages list bachelor's programmes in aeronautical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering and aviation management, military and aeronautical materials science, and computer science, plus a graduate programme in defence technology. Read the practical implication correctly. Entry is by military cadet selection, not open admission, so this is not a university a relocating family can apply to — but a permanent institution of this size landing in a rural district is a rental-market fact, and it is why Muak Lek is not the sleepy dairy valley older guides describe. Thai press reported the new campus as roughly 900 rai built for about five billion baht, with an airfield on site; the academy does not publish those figures itself, so treat them as press-reported. A private Christian university at Muak Lek, in the uplands of eastern Saraburi — known locally and to alumni as Mission College, the name it carried until it was granted university status on 30 June 2009. Teaching is primarily in English, with selected programmes in Thai. Faculties cover Arts & Humanities (BA English for Professional Purposes, with Business, Communication and TESOL emphases), Business Administration (BBA in Accounting and Management), Education (B.Ed Elementary), Information Technology, Religious Studies and Science (BSc Bioscience, with Biology, Clinical Lab and Community Public Health emphases). Postgraduate study runs to an MBA and an M.Ed. Programmes are accredited by Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and recognised by the Civil Service Commission, with transfer agreements into Adventist universities in the US and Australia. Two honest caveats: the Mission Faculty of Nursing is not in Saraburi — it sits on the Bangkok Adventist Hospital grounds in central Bangkok — and this is the province's only institution offering an open-admission English-taught degree, so it carries a lot of weight in any relocation plan that assumes local higher education.

The first of two royally named nursing colleges in this province — a distinction worth stating plainly, because most write-ups of Saraburi, including our own until this revision, name only one. From the college's own history: founded in 1966 as the Saraburi Practical Nursing School and teaching from 26 September 1968, the third such school opened by the Ministry of Public Health; renamed the Saraburi Practical Nursing and Midwifery School in 1970; raised to Saraburi Nursing College in 1978, with the first degree-equivalent nursing and midwifery cohort starting on 5 June 1978. Princess Srinagarindra granted the Boromarajonani name on 30 March 1994, published in the Royal Gazette (vol. 111, special part 36 Ngo), together with permission to use her cypher as the college crest. A gazette notice of 30 June 1997 made it an affiliated institution of Mahidol University, converting the diploma into a Bachelor of Nursing Science; since the Praboromarajchanok Institute Act B.E. 2562 came into force on 6 April 2019 it has sat under PBRI's Faculty of Nursing, and a PBRI council resolution of 7 February 2020 moved the degree off the Mahidol affiliation onto PBRI's own. Campus: 18/64 Thetsaban 4 Road, Pak Phriao, Mueang Saraburi — 14 rai, 33 buildings, about 40,700 sqm of floor space.

The second one, in the pilgrimage town north of the city, and entirely absent from most accounts of education in Saraburi. Built under the Fourth National Economic and Social Development Plan (1977–81) and opened on 8 January 1982 as the twenty-first college of the ministry's Colleges Division, it taught the junior nursing and midwifery certificate for 21 cohorts, moved to the Diploma in Nursing Science from the 1989 academic year, received the Boromarajonani name in 1994, and was a Mahidol affiliated institution from 1997 until 2020, when the degree transferred to the Praboromarajchanok Institute. It currently runs the four-year Bachelor of Nursing Science and a one-year practical-nurse certificate, and states a strategic focus on maternal and child care. Address: 91 Moo 8, Than Kasem, Phra Phutthabat. Why two colleges matter to a resident rather than a statistician: between them they are a standing local supply of trained nursing staff for Saraburi Hospital and the district hospitals, which is one reason healthcare here is better than the province's size would predict.

Chulalongkorn University holds a large land-development project at Cham Phak Phaeo in Kaeng Khoi district, operated by its Centre for Learning Network for the Region under the university's Centre for Social Engagement. Faculties and outside bodies book it for field courses, research and transfer stations, school and community programmes and residential camps, and it has its own dormitory buildings on site. We state the limit as clearly as the fact, because the distinction is the whole point for a family: this is university-owned land and a learning and research site, not a teaching campus, and no degree is taught to the general public there. Anyone who has read that Chulalongkorn “has a campus in Saraburi” has read something true about land and untrue about enrolment.

Saraburi's technical colleges are not a loose collection — they belong to a named, degree-awarding institute. IVEC Central Region 1 groups ten colleges across Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Ayutthaya and Saraburi, and two of the ten are in this province: Saraburi Technical College and Saraburi Vocational College. Its headquarters is at 399 Moo 6, Rangsit–Pathum Thani Road, Bang Phun, Mueang Pathum Thani — outside Saraburi, so the degree paperwork sits in another province. The point most guides miss is that the institute awards the Bachelor of Technology, a continuing degree for holders of the higher vocational diploma: a technical college here is not a dead end at diploma level, and for a hands-on career in this cement, manufacturing and logistics economy it is arguably the strongest local route there is. One thing we could not pin down and will not guess at: the institute publishes its programme table only as a PDF download, and secondary sources disagree about which of the two Saraburi colleges launched which Bachelor of Technology track between 2013 and 2015 (electrical, automotive, construction, electronics and office management are the subjects named). Ask the college itself which it runs this year.

Saraburi has strong Thai-medium government schools across the city and districts, including well-known provincial secondary schools — among them a Saraburi campus of the Suankularb Wittayalai network, one of Thailand's best-known state school families (listed as such on Thai Wikipedia; confirm the intake and programmes with the school itself, as we have not verified it against a ministry register). Add anuban kindergartens and some bilingual programmes. These are the main schooling route for local and Thai-speaking families and are solid at primary and secondary level.

Four things, each stated with its basis. (1) No IB or British-curriculum international school: all four international schools here are American or Montessori, so a family that needs IGCSE, A-Levels or an IB Diploma is planning around Bangkok, about 1.5 hours away. (2) No conventional public university open to the general public. The Royal Thai Air Force academy at Muak Lek is a state degree institution but admits by cadet selection; Chulalongkorn's Saraburi holding is land, not a teaching campus; Asia-Pacific International University is private. For a broad Thai-medium degree, students commute to Bangkok, Ayutthaya or Lopburi. (3) No Ramkhamhaeng regional service branch. Ramkhamhaeng's 23 branch centres and 41 regional examination centres, in the listings we could reach, include Lopburi — about 40 minutes north, and the practical answer for a Saraburi resident — but not Saraburi. We state the basis honestly: Ramkhamhaeng's own branch register page returned an empty response to both of our fetchers, so this rests on secondary listings rather than the university's own register. (4) No Suan Dusit centre, despite what old directories say. Legacy web directories still list a “Suan Dusit Rajabhat, Saraburi Centre”; Suan Dusit University's own current list of teaching locations names Bangkok, Suphan Buri, Lampang, Nakhon Nayok, Trang and Hua Hin, and no site in Saraburi. Treat those entries as historic.
