Overview

Buriram Hospital is the main public hospital of Buriram Province, on Na Sathani Road in the city centre. First constructed in 1951 as a single 25-bed building, it officially opened on 10 March 1953 and operated as a general hospital before being reclassified as a regional hospital under Thailand's Ministry of Public Health on 29 April 1997, expanding to 520 beds at the time. Bed capacity grew again to 590 by the end of fiscal year 2000, and the hospital is reported today at up to 895 beds. It hosts a CPIRD Medical Education Center that trains doctors for the Institute of Medicine, Suranaree University of Technology, and is an affiliated hospital of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. As Buriram's main provincial public facility, it offers dramatically lower costs than the private Buriram Ram Hospital, at the trade-off of longer waits and more limited English-language support. BAANLYY is not affiliated with Buriram Hospital and takes no paid placement in this guide; confirm all figures directly with the hospital.
