Overview

Nai Yang is a relaxed casuarina-and-pine-backed beach inside Sirinat National Park, just south of the airport. It keeps a genuinely local, low-key feel: a curve of beachfront seafood shacks and casual restaurants, a small village of guesthouses and mid-range condos, and a reef offshore that's popular for snorkelling. Planes descending to HKT pass low overhead — a novelty some love and others tolerate.

It's a practical, value-oriented base for long-stay expats and digital nomads who want the beach and the airport close without Cherng Talay's premium. Amenities are simpler than the resort strips further south, and you'll want a scooter or car, but the everyday cost of living is noticeably kinder and the community friendlier and more Thai than the tourist hubs.

Getting around

Connections

Phuket International Airport (HKT) (~5-10 min) · Route 4031 / Route 402 (to Thalang & town) · Grab / Bolt & taxis (island-wide) · Songthaew to Phuket Town (via Thalang)

Nai Yang is the nearest beach to Phuket International Airport — about 5-10 minutes — while Phuket Town is roughly 35-45 minutes south. As everywhere on Phuket there's no rail, so a scooter or car is the practical way to get around; beach, cafes and the airport are all a few minutes away.

FAQ

Nai Yang — frequently asked questions

What is Nai Yang like to live in?

Relaxed and local. It's a pine-backed national-park beach with casual seafood dining, a friendly Thai community and mid-range housing — a value alternative to the pricier west-coast resort areas, minutes from the airport.

Is aircraft noise a problem in Nai Yang?

It can be, as the beach sits near the airport approach and planes pass low overhead. Many residents find it a minor novelty, but noise-sensitive renters should visit at different times of day before committing.

How much is rent in Nai Yang?

Indicative long-term rents run about THB 10,000-18,000 for a studio, THB 15,000-30,000 for a one-bedroom and THB 24,000-48,000 for a two-bedroom, with pool villas commonly THB 40,000-90,000 — good value for a beachside area.

Is Nai Yang good for digital nomads?

Yes — it offers affordable beachside living, a laid-back community and quick airport access, though you'll rely on a scooter or car and won't find the dense cafe-and-coworking scene of Bang Tao or Phuket Town.
