Krabi International School is the province's largest and best-documented international school, on a purpose-built campus at 188 Moo 6, Nong Thale, about fifteen minutes inland from Ao Nang and twenty from Krabi Town. It teaches the English National Curriculum and the Cambridge Pathway in English to students aged 5 to 18, and — the fact that matters most for relocating families — it is an official Cambridge school running its own on-site examination centre, so a child can sit IGCSE and then AS and A Level without leaving Krabi. It holds ISQM Silver from the Education Development Trust, is a member of ISAT, is registered with Thailand's Office of the Private Education Commission and ONESQA, and is a UCAS-registered centre for UK university applications. The school currently publishes an average class size of eleven, a 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio and more than twenty-four nationalities on roll. A long-running environmental programme — solar generation, rainwater harvesting, hydroponics and recycling — is central to how the school describes itself, and it claims to generate more electricity across a year than it consumes.

Krabi has no rail of any kind and no public transport a child could use alone; every school run here is by car, scooter or school minibus. The school runs a minibus collection service across the surrounding area, with routes and timings adjusted to where its families actually live — so the realistic catchment is set by that service, and it is worth asking the admissions team whether it currently reaches the neighbourhood you are considering before you sign a lease. The campus sits inland at Nong Thale, roughly 15 minutes from Ao Nang and 20 minutes from Krabi Town.

How big the year groups really are
In a province this small, “the school offers this stage” and “there is a class in that stage this year” are two different claims. This is the question Krabi families most often forget to ask.
The school currently publishes an average class size of 11 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 7:1, with 24+ nationalities represented. Those are genuinely attractive numbers for a young child and they are also a plain statement that year groups here are small. An earlier version of this page carried a roll of around 350 pupils and an average class of 18; neither figure appears on the school's own current site, so we have dropped both. Ask specifically how many students are in the IGCSE and A-level year groups, and which A-level subjects are timetabled this year.

No boarding is advertised. This is a day school, and the practical range is set by the minibus network rather than by boarding houses.
Who it suits
Families who want a recognised, examined British education without leaving Krabi — and who value very small classes and an outdoor, environmentally-minded campus over the scale, facilities and subject breadth of a large Phuket or Bangkok school. It is also the obvious choice for a family that had assumed Krabi meant homeschooling or a two-hour commute.
What we could not verify — and where sources disagree
We publish these openly rather than smoothing them over. A school guide that hides its uncertainty is not much use to a family making a decision this big.
- The school's English pages say it has been teaching in Krabi "for over 10 years" and its site copyright runs from 2015; its own Thai-language page says the school was founded in 2013. Third-party directories say 2015. We report the disagreement rather than pick a year.
- Founding year is genuinely disputed between the school's own English and Thai pages (see above) — we state none.
- The school publishes headline IGCSE and A/AS results and quotes from an independent UK inspection report on its homepage, but the full inspection report is not published on the site. Ask to read it.
- The school states that it produces more electricity over a year than it uses and harvests enough water to supply the campus year-round. These are school-reported figures we could not independently verify; they are a genuine differentiator if true, so ask to see the numbers if it matters to you.
- Three directories currently quote three different 2026/27 fee ranges for this school. Use the school's own schedule, not a directory.
Ask every Krabi school this
- Ask how many children are in the specific year group your child would join -- not the whole school. This is the single highest-stakes question in Krabi. Cohorts here are small enough that a stage can be advertised on a website while the class itself has two or three children in it, or is not running at all this year. Ask for the number, in writing, for the year your child enters.
- If you need A-levels or IGCSEs, ask which subjects actually run this academic year and who teaches them on site. A small sixth form cannot offer every option every year; the subject combination your child needs may or may not be timetabled.
- Ask whether the school is licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education as an international school, and request the licence details. Krabi has a mix of licensed international schools, government English Programme streams and private early-years centres, and the distinction affects both the qualification and your child's visa route.
- For a government English Programme (EP) place, ask about the entrance examination and the Thai-language requirement before you plan around it. Local guidance is that EP entrance tests are sat in late January or early February and that Thai to a native-speaking standard is expected -- which quietly rules the EP route out for most newly-arrived foreign children.
- Ask what transport the school actually runs, and whether it reaches where you intend to live. One Krabi school runs a minibus collection service across the surrounding area; another reports no school bus at all. In a province with no rail, that decides which neighbourhoods are realistic for you.
- Drive the route at 07:30 on a school day, not at midday, and drive it in the wet season. Krabi's road times change a great deal with rain and with the tourist season.
- Request the school's own current fee schedule in writing, including registration, admission, deposit, uniform, transport, lunch and trips. We do not publish per-school fees -- for one Krabi school, three directories currently quote three different ranges.
