Khon Kaen University, Nong Khai Campus is a regional branch campus of Khon Kaen University -- one of Thailand's leading research universities, whose main campus in Khon Kaen was established in 1964. The Nong Khai Campus was founded in 1997 to extend KKU's reach to the Mekong border province, sitting at 112 Moo, Nong Kom Koe Subdistrict, Mueang Nong Khai District, a short distance from Nong Khai town and the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.
In 2012, the campus was restructured under a single Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies (คณะสหวิทยาการ), which today organises its programs across four academic groups: Business Administration, Integrated Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Applied Science and Engineering. The campus positions itself around Nong Khai's role as a border-trade and Greater Mekong Subregion gateway, with programs oriented toward logistics, ASEAN-facing business and regional studies alongside its science and engineering offerings.
