Nong Khai has no university of its own, and that is the wrong way to judge it. It has a research university's campus, a Buddhist university campus running all the way to a doctorate, a technical college teaching a bachelor's degree since 2014 that has been in the province since 1938, a free college for disabled students under royal patronage, and one institution whose current status we could not verify. Here is each one, what it confers, and where it sits.
All 5 sit inside the provincial capital's district — but spread across six different subdistricts, several kilometres apart, and that is the part that decides where you rent. The KKU campus is out toward the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge in Nong Kom Koe; MCU is on the other side of the district in Khai Buk Wan; the technical college has one site on Mittraphap Road in Pho Chai and a second in Hat Kham; the Redemptorist college is in Mi Chai. Not one of the institutions profiled here is in any of the province's other eight districts.
3 of 5. Note the third: the college teaches the degree, but the institute above it is what confers it — a distinction invisible from the college's name.
Listed here because they exist and matter, and labelled honestly because neither awards a degree.
