Public University (Regional Campus) · founded 2011 · Thai Mueang
Ramkhamhaeng University's Phang Nga Regional Campus -- formally one of RU's "Regional Campuses in Honour of the King" (สาขาวิทยบริการเฉลิมพระเกียรติ) -- was established in 2011 at local residents' request, so that Phang Nga families would not need to send students all the way to Bangkok for a Ramkhamhaeng education. Teaching began the following academic year, 2012, on a 50-rai site at Moo 9, Thai Mueang Subdistrict, Thai Mueang District, Phang Nga.
As with Ramkhamhaeng's other 22 regional campuses nationwide, the Phang Nga campus provides admissions, lecture halls, examination facilities and student-registration services for Ramkhamhaeng's open-admission bachelor's degree system, letting residents of Phang Nga and nearby districts study without permanently relocating to the main Bangkok campus.
