Royal Thai Naval Academy at a glance
The Royal Thai Naval Academy was established in 1898 under King Chulalongkorn to train officers for the Royal Thai Navy, and moved to its present riverside site on Sukhumvit Road at Pak Nam in 1952. It is a landmark of Mueang Samut Prakan and has its own BTS station on the Sukhumvit line.
A correction to what this page used to say. We previously described RTNA as "not a civilian degree-granting university", which ran two different facts together and got one of them wrong. RTNA is genuinely not open to civilian enrolment -- entry is by naval cadet selection -- but it does award degrees: its programme combines naval professional training with undergraduate study in engineering and science, and its Bachelor of Engineering in marine engineering (2020 revision) is filed with the Council of Engineers Thailand. It is listed here as what it is, and it is not an option for a relocating family choosing a university.
